ING ON CHRISTIANS. Rom. xiv, 5, 6. One man esteemeth one day above another; another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regarded the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Rom. xii, 1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

Ps. cvil, 22. And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, Heb. xiii, 10. 15, 16. Jer. xvii, 26. And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat-offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.

Jer. xxxiii, 10, 11. Thus saith the LORD, Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant,

BUT NEVER A SUBSTITUTE FOR OBEDIENCE.

1 Sam xv, 22. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt-offerings, and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the

fat of rams.

Ps. 1, 7-14. Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God. I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt-offerings, to have been continually before me. I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he-goats out of thy folds: For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains; and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High.

Ps. li, 16. For thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it; thou delightest not in burnt-offering.

Ps. Ixix, 80, 81. I will praise the

name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving, This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

Hosea vi, 6. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt-offerings.

Matth. xii, 7. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

And if thy oblation be a meat-offering baken in the frying-pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. And thou shalt bring the meat-offering that is made of these things unto the LORD: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar. And the priest shall take from the meat-offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering unto the LORD. And if thou offer made by fire, of a sweet savour a meat-offering of thy first-fruits unto the LORD. thou shalt offer, for the meat-offering of thy first

Lev. vil, 11-14. And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he shall offer unto the LORD. If he offer it for a thanks giving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleav ened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried.

Besides the

cakes, he shall offer for his of fering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace-offerings. And of it he shall offer one out of the whole oblation for an heave-offering unto the LORD, and it shall be the priest's that sprinkleth the blood of the peace-offerings.

Lev. vili, 26 And out of the basket of unleavened bread, that was before the LORD, he took one unleavened cake, and a cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, and put them on the fat, and upon the right shoulder.

MEAT OFFERING.

FOR PRIESTS.

Lev. vi. 20-23. This is the offering of Aaron, and of his sons, which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed; the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a meatoffering perpetual; half cî it in, the morning, and half thereof at night. In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is baken, thou shalt bring it in: and the baken pieces of the meat-offering shalt thou offer for a sweet savour unto the LORD. And the priest of his sons that is anointed in his stead,

shall offer it: it is a statute for

ever unto the LORD; it shall be wholly burnt: For every meatoffering for the priest shall be wholly burnt: it shall not be eaten.

And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the trankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

Lev. v, 11, 12. But if he be not able to bring two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons; then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin-offering: he shall put no oil upon it, neither thereon; for it is a sin-offering. shall he put any rankincense Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, even a memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: it is a sinoffering.

Lev. vi, 14, 15. And this is the law of the meat-offering: The sons of Aaron shall offer it before the LORD, before the altar. And he shall take of it his handful, of the flour of the meat-offering, and of the oil thereof, and all the frankincense which is upon the meatoffering, and shall burn it upon

make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt-offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a free-will-offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the herd, or of the flock; Then shall be that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat-offering of a tenthdeal of flour, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil. Or for a ram, thou shalt prepare for a meat-offering two tenth-deals of flour, mingled with the third part of an hin of oil. And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt-oftering or for a sacrifice in performing a vow, or peace-offerings, with a bullock a meat-offering of unto the LORD; Then shall he bring three tenth-deals of flour, mingled with half an hin of oil. Then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up an heave offering unto the LORD. Ye shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave-offering: as ye do the heaveoffering of the threshing-floor, so shall ye leave it. Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the LORD an heave-offering in your generations.
