that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the house-tops.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul:

But rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, Him will I confess also before my Father

which is in heaven.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, Him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.

He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence, to teach and to preach in their cities. And they departed, and went through the towns, Preaching the Gospel; that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them every where.

And at that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus: and of all that was done by him: (for his fame was spread abroad :) and he was perplexed, because that it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead: and of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. Others said, It is Elias. And others said, that it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets. But when Herod heard thereof, he said unto his servants, John have I beheaded but who is this of whom I hear such things? This is— the Baptist: It is John, whom I beheaded he is risen from the dead :-he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.— And he desired to see him. For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him, and put him in prison, for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife for he had married her. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife. Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him ; but she could not. (For Herod had feared John, knowing that he was a just man and a holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.) But when Herod on his birth day made a supper to his lords, high captains,

and chief estates of Galilee, and when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced before them, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me here, in a charger, the head of John the Baptist. And when he would have put him to death he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. So the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat at meat with him, he would not reject her. And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison, and brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel brought it and gave it to her mother. And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb; and went and told Jesus.

But the apostles, when they were returned, gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. And after these things he took them and went aside privatelyand they departed – by ship privately. Jesus went over the

sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias, into a desert place, belonging to the city called Bethsaida. And the people saw them departing, and many knew him; and when the people had heard thereof, they ran afoot thither out of all cities, and came together unto him. And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and he began to teach them many things, and healed them that had need of healing. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

He answered and said unto them, They need not depart : Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye?

Go and see.

And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And he said, Bring them hither to me. And Jesus said to his disciples, Make the men sit down, by fifties in a company. Now there was much grass in the place. And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. And they did so, and made them all sit down. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand: and they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.

And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes,

He looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake ; And when he had given thanks, he distributed the loaves, and gave them to his disciples, to set before them, and the disciples to the multitude, to them that were set down; and likewise the two fishes, of the fishes as much as they would divided he among them all. And they did all eat, and were filled. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments of the five barley loaves, and of the fishes, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children. Then those men which had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said,

This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
