3 Gracia sea á vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesu-Christo.

4 Gracias doy á mi Dios, haciendo siempre memoria de tí en mis oraciones.

5 Oyendo tu caridad, y la fé que tienes en el Señor Jesus, y para con todos los santos.

6 Paraque la comunicacion de tu fé sea eficaz por el conocimiento de todo bien, que está en vosotros por Jesu-Christo.

7 Porque tenemos grande gozo, y consolacion en tu caridad, de que por tí, hermano, han sido recreadas las entrañas de los santos.

8 Por lo cual aunque yo pueda tomarme mucho atrevimiento en Christo para mandarte lo que te conviene;

9 Sin embargo por amor á la caridad, antes te ruego, como que soy Pablo el anciano, y ahora tambien prisionero de Jesu-Christo.

10 Te ruego por mi hijo Onesimo, á quien he engendrado entre las cadenas.

11 El cual en otro tiempo te fué inutil, mas ahora es provechoso á tí, y á mí.

12 El que te he vuelto á enviar; por esto recibele como á mis entrañas.

13 Yo quisiera haberle retenido conmigo, paraque en lugar de tí me sirviese en las prisiones del Evangelio.

14 Mas nada quise hacer sin tu dictamen, paraque tu beneficio no fuese como de necesidad, sino voluntario.

15 Porque quizas él se apartó de tí por algun tiempo, paraque tú le recobrases para siempre:

16 No ya como siervo, sino mas que siervo, como un hermano amado, mayormente de mí: ¿pero cuánto mas de tí en la carne, y en el Señor ?

17 Si tú pues me tienes por compañero, recibele como á mí mismo.

3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,

5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

8 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,

9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:

11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:

12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:

13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.

15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;

16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

17 If thou count me therefore a partner receive him as myself.

18 Y si te hizó algun daño, ó te debe algo, ponlo á mi cuenta.

19 Yo Pablo lo escribí de mi puño, yo te lo pagaré, por no decirte, que aun á tí mismo te me debes.

20 Si hermano; deja que me goce yo de tí en el Señor: recrea mis entrañas en el Señor.

21 Teniendo confianza en tu obediencia, te escribí, sabiendo que tu harás mas de lo que yo digo.

22 Y asimismo preparame tambien posada: porque espero que por vuestras oraciones os tengo de ser concedido.

18 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee aught, put that on mine account;

19 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.

21 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.

2 Nos ha hablado en estos últimos dias por su Hijo, al cual constituyó heredero de todo, por quien hizó tambien los siglos.

3 El cual, siendo el resplandor de su gloria, y la imagen de su substancia, y sustentandolo todo con la palabra de su poder, habiendo por sí mismo hecho la purificacion de nuestros pecados, se sentó á la diestra de la magestad en las alturas.

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who, being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

4 Hecho tanto mas excelente que los ángeles, cuanto heredó un nombre mas excelente que ellos.

5 Porque ¿á cuál de los ángeles dijó jamas: Tú eres mi hijo, hoy te he engendrado? Y otra vez. Yo seré su Padre, y él será mi Hijo?

6 Y otra vez, al introducir el Primogénito en el mundo, dice: Y adorenle todos los ángeles de Dios.

7 Y de los ángeles dice: El que hace sus ángeles espíritus, y sus ministros llama de fuego.

8 Mas al Hijo: Tu trono, oh Dios, es por los siglos de los siglos: Cetro de rectitud, el cetro de tu reyno.

9 Amaste la justicia y aborreciste la iniquidad. Por tanto Dios, el Dios tuyo, te ungió con oleo de alegria sobre tus compañeros.

10 Y tú, ó Señor, en el principio fundaste la tierra, y los cielos son obras de tus manos.

11 Ellos perecerán, pero tú permaneces, y todos ellos envegecerán manera de vestido.

12 Y como un vestido los doblarás, y serán mudados: mas tu eres el mismo, y tus años no menguarán.

13 Mas ¿á cuál de los ángeles dijó jamas: sientate á mi diestra, hásta que ponga tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies?

14 ¿No son todos espíritus ministradores, enviados para servir por amor de aquellos, que serán herederos de salvacion ?

CAPITULO II.

4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the works of thine hands.

11 They shall perish, but thou remainest: and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;

12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation ?

CHAPTER II.

THEREFORE we ought to give

2 Porque si la palabra pronuncia

4 Confirmandola Dios con su testimonio por medio de señales, y prodigios, y diversos milagros, y dones del Espíritu Santo conforme á su voluntad.

5 Porque no sometió Dios á los ángeles el mundo venidero, del cual hablamos.

6 Mas uno en cierto lugar dió testimonio diciendo; ¿qué es el hombre que así te acuerdas de él, ó el hijo del hombre, que le visitas? 7 Tú le hiciste por un poco menor que los ángeles, le coronaste de gloria, y de honra, y le pusiste sobre las obras de tus manos.

8 Pusiste todas las cosas debajo de sus pies. Porque en cuanto sugetó todas las cosas bajo de él, nada dejó que no le esté sugeto. Mas ahora no vemos aun que todas las cosas esten sometidas á él.

9 Mas vemos á Jesus, que fué hecho por un poco menor que los ángeles por su pasion y muerte, coronado de gloria y honra, paraque por la gracia de Dios gustase la muerte por todos.

10 Porque convenía á aquel por quien son todas las cosas, y para quien son todas las cosas, habiendo de llevar muchos hijos á la gloria, hacer perfecto por medio de sufrimiento al caudillo de su salvacion. 11 Porque el que santifica, y los que son santificados todos son de uno. Por cuya razon no se avergonzó de llamarlos hermanos,

12 Diciendo: anunciaré á mis hermanos tu nombre; en medio de la Iglesia cantaré tus alabanzas.

a just recompense of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him ;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not

yet all things put under him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

14 Y por cuanto los hijos participaron de la carne y sangre, él tambien participó de las mismas cosas, para destruir por la muerte al que tenia el imperio de la muerte, es á saber al diablo.

15 Y para librar aquellos, que por temor de la muerte estaban en servidumbre toda su vida.

16 Porque ciertamente no tomó la naturaleza de los ángeles, sino que tomó la simiente de Abraham. 17 Por lo cual debía hacerse en todo semejante á los hermanos, para que fuese un Pontífice misericordioso, y fiel en las cosas pertenecientes á Dios, para expiar los pecados del pueblo.

18 Porque en cuanto el mismo ha sufrido siendo tentado, es poderoso tambien para socorrer á los que son tentados.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them, who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

17 Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

2 Que fué fiel á aquel que le constituyó, como Moysés lo fué en toda su casa.

3 Porque este fué tenido por digno de mucha mayor gloria que Moysés, cuanto el que edificó la casa tiene mas honor, que la casa.

4 Porque toda casa es edificada de algun hombre: mas el que ha criado todas las cosas, es Dios.

5 Y Moysés á la verdad fué fiel en toda su casa, como un siervo para testimonio de aquellas cosas, que habían de ser anunciadas despues.

Jesus;

2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
