3 Nada hagais por porfia, ó por vanagloria, sino que con humildad de espíritu cada uno de vosotros estime á otros mas que á sí mismo. 4 No mirando cada uno las cosas que son suyas, sino las de los otros.

5 Y haya el mismo ánimo en vosotros, que hubó tambien en JesuChristo.

6 El cual siendo en forma de Dios, no reputó por usurpacion el ser igual á Dios.

7 Mas se anonadó á sí mismo tomando forma de siervo, hecho á semejanza de los hombres.

8 Y hallado como hombre en la condicion, se humilló á sí mismo hásta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.

9 Por lo cual Dios tambien le ensalzó, y le dió un nombre, que es superior á todo otro nombre.

10 Paraque al nombre de Jesus toda rodilla se doble de las cosas que hay en el cielo, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra.

11 Y que toda lengua confiese que Jesu-Christo es el Señor para gloria de Dios Padre.

12 Por tanto amados mios, como siempre habeis obedecido no solo estando yo presente, sino mucho mas ahora en mi ausencia, obrad vuestra salvacion con temor y con temblor.

13 Porque Dios es el que obra en vosotros, así el querer, como el ejecutar segun su buena voluntad. 14 Haced todas las cosas sin murmuraciones, ni dudas.

15 Paraque seais irreprehensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin culpa en medio de una nacion depravada y perversa, entre los cuales resplandeceis como lumbreras en el mundo. 16 Llevando por delante la palabra de vida para regocijarme en el dia

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal

with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling:

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of

18 Por lo mismo holgaos tambien vosotros, y regocijaos conmigo. 19 Mas espero en el Señor Jesus, que pronto os enviaré Timotheo; paraque yo tambien esté de buen ánimo cuando sepa vuestro estado. 20 Porque yo no tengo ninguno de ánimo igual al suyo, que sinceramente tenga tanta solicitud por vosotros.

21 Porque todos buscan lo que es suyo propio, no lo que es de JesuChristo.

22 Mas vosotros teneis la prueba de él, que como un hijo al padre, sirvió conmigo en el Evangelio.

23 Así que este espero enviaros, luego que vea el estado de mis negocios.

24 Y confio en el Señor, que yo tambien iré presto á vosotros.

25 Mas tuve por cosa necesaria enviaros Epaphrodito mi hermano, y coadjutor, y compañero, vuestro Apóstol, y que me ha asistido en mis necesidades.

26 Porque él estaba ansioso de todos vosotros, y estaba lleno de angustia, porque habiais oido de su enfermedad.

27 Y cierto que estuvo enfermo casi á la muerte: Mas Dios tuvó misericordia de él, y no solamente de él, sino tambien de mí, paraque no tuviese yo tristeza sobre tristeza. 28 Y así le he enviado mas presto, paraque viendole, os goceis de nuevo, y yo esté con menos tristeza.

29 Recibidle pues en el Señor con todo gozo, y tened en aprecio á los tales.

17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. 20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.

22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellow soldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. 26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

7 Mas las cosas que fueron para mí ganancias, las estimé como perdidas por amor de Jesu-Christo.

8 Y á la verdad todas las cosas reputo por perdidas, por la excelencia del conocimiento de Christo Jesus, Señor mio; por amor del cual he perdido todo esto, y lo tengo por basura, por ganar á Christo.

9 Y ser hallado en él, no teniendo mi justicia, que es de la Ley, sino aquella que es por la fé de Christo, la justicia que es de Dios por la fé.

10 Para conocerle á él, y la virtud de su resurreccion, y la comunion de sus padecimientos, siendo hecho conforme á su muerte.

11 Por si en alguna manera llegase á aquella resurreccion de los muertos.

7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12 No que la haya aun alcanzado, ni que sea ya perfecto; mas voy siguiendo por si puedo de algun modo obtener aquello, por lo que yo soy tambien aprehendido de Jesu-Christo.

13 Hermanos, yo no juzgo haberlo ya alcanzado. Mas una cosa hago, á saber, olvidando aquello que queda atrás, y extendiendome hácia lo que está delante.

14 Sigo al blanco, esto es al premio de la alta vocacion de Dios en Christo Jesus.

15 Y así todos los que somos perfectos, tengamos este sentimiento, y si vosotros sentís de otra manera en alguna cosa, Dios tambien os lo revelará.

16 Mas en cuanto al punto á que hemos llegado, andemos por la misma regla, sintamos una misma

cosa.

17 Hermanos, sed imitadores mios, y no perdais de vista á los que anduvieron así segun nos teneis por egemplo.

18 Porque muchos andan, de quienes os he dicho con frecuencia, y ahora os lo digo llorando, que son enemigos de la cruz de Christo.

19 Cuyo fin es perdicion, cuyo Dios es su vientre, y su gloria es para confusion de ellos, que piensan solo en cosas terrenas.

20 Mas nuestra morada es en los cielos, de donde tambien esperamos al Salvador, el Señor Jesu-Christo. 21 El cual tranformará nuestro vil cuerpo, para hacerle semejante á su cuerpo glorioso, segun el poder con él que puede sugetar á sí todas las cosas.

CAPITULO IV.

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto

you.

16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

CHAPTER IV.

seados hermanos, gozo mio, y corona mia estad así firmes en el Señor, carisimos.

2 Ruego á Erodias, y suplico á

joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

ánimo en el Señor.

3 Y tambien te ruego á ti fiel compañero en el yugo, ayuda las mugeres, que trabajaron conmigo en el Evangelio con Clemente tambien, y con otros colaboradores mios, cuyos nombres estan escritos en

el libro de la vida.

4 Gozaos en el Señor siempre; otra vez os digo que os goceis.

5 Sea vuestra modestia conocida de todos los hombres. El Señor está cerca.

6 No andeis solícitos por cosa alguna, mas sean vuestras peticiones en todo hechas manifiestas delante de Dios, por medio de la oracion, y suplica, y hacimiento de gracias.

7 Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepuja todo entendimiento, guardará vuestros corazones, y vuestras mentes en Christo Jesus.

8 Resta hermanos, que todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honesto, todo lo justo, todo lo santo, todo lo amable, todo lo que es de buena fama, si hay alguna virtud, si hay alguna alabanza, esto pensad.

9 Lo que aprendisteis, y recibisteis, y oisteis, y visteis en mí, esto haced, y el Dios de paz será con

vosotros.

10 Mas yo me gocé en gran manera en el Señor, de que al fin vuestro cuidado por mí se haya otra vez renovado, de lo que estabais aun solícitos, mas os faltaba la oportunidad.

11 No lo digo como por necesidad, porque he aprendido á estar contento con lo que tengo.

12 Sé vivir humillado, y sé vivir en abundancia, donde quiera, y en todas cosas estoy hecho á estar saciado, y á tener hambre, á tener abundancia, y á padecer necesidad.

3 And I entreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellow labourers, whose names are in the book of

hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with

you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be

content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suf. fer need.
