17 Y guardaos de los hombres; porque os entregarán á sus syne drios, y os azotarán en sus sinagogas.

18 Y seréis llevados ante gobernadores y reyes por mi causa, para testimonio contra ellos y los Gentiles.

17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, | and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

20 Porque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu de vuestro Padre que habla en vosotros.

21 Y el hermano entregará á muerte al hermano, y el padre al hijo, y los hijos se levantarán contra los padres y los harán morir.

22 Y seréis aborrecidos de todos por causa de mi nombre, mas el que perseverare hasta el fin este será salvo.

23 Mas cuando os persiguieren en esta ciudad huid á la otra, porque en verdad os digo que no habréis concluido las ciudades de Israel que no venga el Hijo del hom

bre.

24 No es el discípulo mas que su maestro ní el siervo mas que su Señor.

25 Bástele al discípulo ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su Señor. Si al mismo padre de familia llamaron Beelzebub, ¿cuanto mas á sus domésticos ?

26 No los temáis por esto, porque nada hay encubierto que no haya de ser manifiesto, ni nada oculto que no haya de saberse.

27 Lo que os digo en tinieblas, decidlo en la luz; y lo que oís á la oreja, predicadlo sobre los tejados.

28 Y no temáis á los que matan el cuerpo, peroque no pueden matar el alma: temed antes al que

20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household ?

26 Fear them not therefore for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which

29 Por ventura no se venden dos pajarillos por un quarto, y ni uno de ellos caerá al suelo sin vuestro Padre ?

30 Aun los mismos cabellos de vuestra cabeza estan todos contados.

31 No temáis pues: mas valéis vosotros que muchos pájaros.

32 Todo aquel pues que me confesare delante de los hombres, yo le confesaré tambien delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.

33 Y el que me negare delante de los hombres, le negaré yo tambien delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.

34 No creáis que he venido á traer paz á la tierra. No vine para traer paz sino espada.

35 Porque he venido para poner en discordia al hombre contra su padre, y al hijo contra su madre, y á la nuera contra su suegra.

36 Y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su propia familia.

37 Y el que ama padre ó madre mas que á mí, no es digno de mí; y el que ama á hijo ó hija mas que á mí, no es digno de mí.

38 Y el que no toma su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de mí.

39 El que hallare su vida la perderá, y el que perdiese su vida por amor de mí, la hallará.

40 El que os recibe á vosotros me recibe á mí, y el que me recibe á mí, recibe á aquel que me envió. 41 El que recibe á un profeta en nombre de profeta recibirá galardon de profeta; y el que recibe á un justo en nombre de justo, recibirá galardon de justo.

42 Y todo el que diére á beber un vaso de agua fria á uno de estos pequeñuelos solamente en

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in hea

ven.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of

me.

38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40 He that receiveth you receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the

5 Los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, los leprosos quedan limpios, los sordos oyen, resucitan los muertos, y es anunciado el Evangelio á los pobres.

6 Y bienaventurado es aquel que no fuere escandalizado en mí.

7 Y luego que ellos se fueron, empezó Jesus á decir de Juan á las gentes: ¿que salisteis á ver al desierto? ¿alguna caña agitada del viento?

8¿ Mas que salisteis á ver? ¿Un hombre vestido de ropas delicadas? Cierto que los que visten ropas delicadas, en mansiones de Reyes estan.

9 ¿O que salisteis á ver? ¿Un profeta? Ciertamente, os digo; y aun mas que profeta.

10 Porque de este es de quien está escrito: He aquí yo envio im mensagero ante tu faz, el cual aparejará tu camino delante de tí.

11 En verdad os digo, que entre los nacidos de mugeres no se ha levantado otro mayor que Juan el Bautista. I con todo, el que es menor en el reyno de los cielos, mayor es que él.

12 Y desde los dias de Juan el

5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

7 ¶ And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

12 And from the days of John

13 Porque todos los profetas y la Ley hasta Juan profetizaron. 14 Y si queréis recibir, él es aquel Elias que había de venir.

15 El que tenga oidos para oir, oiga.

16 Mas á quien compararé yo esta generacion? Semejante es á los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas y llamando á sus compañeros,

17 Dicen: Os tañímos, y no baylasteis; os plañímos, y no llorasteis.

18 Porque vinó Juan que no comía ni bebía, y dicen: demónio tiene.

19 Y vinó el Hijo del hombre que come y bebe, y dicen: He aquí un hombre gloton, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y pecadores. Mas la sabiduria es justificada por sus hijos.

20 Entónces comenzó á reconvenir á las ciudades en las cuales las mas de sus maravillas habían sido hechas, porque no se habían arrepentido: diciendo.

21 Ay de tí Chorazin! Ay de tí Bethsaida! Que si en Tyro y en Sydon se hubieran hecho las maravillas que han sido hechas en vosotras, tiempo hace que se hubieran arrepentido en cilicio y en ceníza.

22 Por tanto os digo que Tyro y Sydon serán castigadas con menos rigor en el dia del juicio que vosotras.

13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

16 ¶ But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

24 Por esto os digo que la tierra de Sodoma será castigada con me

28 Venid á mí todos los que os afanáis, y estáis sobrecargados, y yo os aliviaré.

29 Tomad sobre vosotros mi yugo, y aprended de mí que soy manso y humilde de corazon, y hallaréis reposo para vuestras almas.

30 Porque suave es mi yugo, y mi carga ligera.

CAPITULO XII.

N aquel tiempo iba Jesus en

E sábado por unos sembrados, y

sus discípulos, como tuviesen hambre empezaron á coger espigas de trigo, y á

comer.

2 Y viendolo los Phariseos le dijeron: mira que tus discípulos hacen lo que no es lícito hacer en sábado.

3 Mas él les dijó: ¿No habeís leido que hizo David cuando tuvo hambre él, y los que estaban con él?

4 Como entró en la casa de Dios, y comió los panes de la proposicion los cuales no le era lícito comer, ní á los que estaban con él, sino á solos los Sacerdotes ?

5 ¿0 no habéis leido en la Ley que los Sacerdotes los sábados, en el templo quebrantan el sábado, y son sin culpa?

6 Pues yo os digo que aquí hay uno que es mayor que el templo.

26 Even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

CHAPTER XII.

T that time Jesus went on the

Asabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were ahungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.

2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was ahungered, and they that were with him;

4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
