Introduction. HE subject of this work is a very high one. It is one eminently fitted, and no doubt intended, to awaken the deepest interest in the human mind. The solution of the mystery of God, in the sense of its final and exhaustive unfolding, has been, is now, and for ever will be, an utter impossibility. But the solution of this mystery in the sense of the completion of one grand manifestation of it, and the disclosure of its knowledge, when finished, are things promised. Such a manifestation of the mystery of God must of necessity be perfect both of its kind and in its degree. It must embrace the beginning of the beginnings of the Lord's ways, and also the end of the ends of His works.
