pleasure in wickedness; neither shall any evil dwell with thee. Such as be foolish shall not stand in thy sight; for thou hatest all them that work vanity. As for me, I will come into thine house, relying upon the multitude of thy mercies;—and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy Temple. Lead me, O Lord! in thy righteousness;-make thy way plain before my face. Let all them that put their trust in thee rejoice; they shall ever be giving of thanks, because thou defendest them; they that love thy name shall be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord! wilt give thy blessing unto the righteous;-and with thy favourable kindness wilt thou defend him as with a shield. Psalm xiii. xvi. How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I seek counsel in my soul, and be so vexed in my heart? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God!-lighten mine eyes, that I sleep not in death! Preserve me, O Lord! for in thee have I put my trust. My trust is in thy mercy; my heart shall be joyful in thy salvation. I will sing of the Lord because he hath dealt so lovingly with me;-yea, I will praise the name of the Lord most high! I will thank the Lord for giving me warning. I have set God always before me; for he is on my right hand, therefore I shall not fall. Thou shalt shew me the path of life; in thy presence is the fulness of joy; at thy right hand there is pleasure for ever more. Psalm xvii. Hear me, O Lord!-consider my complaint; and hearken unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips! O hold thou up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not! I have called unto thee, O God! for thou shalt hear me! incline thine ear unto me, and hearken unto my words! Shew thy marvellous loving-kindness unto me, thou that art the Saviour of them which put their trust in thee! Keep me as the apple of an eye; hide me under the shadow of thy wings! And as for me, I will behold thy presence in righteousness; and when I awake up after thy likeness I shall be satisfied with it. Psalm xxii. My God! my God!-look upon me; why hast thou forsaken me; and art so far from my health, and from the words of my complaint. O my God! I cry in the day-time, and thou hearest not; and in the night season also I take no rest. Thou art he that took me out of my mother's womb;-thou wast my hope when I hanged yet on my mother's breast. O go not from me, for trouble is hard at hand, and there is none but thee to help me. I am poured out like water; my heart in the midst of my body is even like melting wax. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my gums; and thou hast brought me near unto death! But be not thou far from me, O Lord! -thou art my succour, haste thee to help me. I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. O praise the Lord, ye that fear him !— for he hath not despised nor abhorred the low estate of the poor;-he hath not hid his face from him, but when he called unto him, he heard him. My praise is of thee, O Lord!—in the great congregation; my vows will I perform in the sight of them that fear thee! Psalm xxv. Unto thee, O Lord! will I lift up my soul!-my God, I have put my trust in thee! O let me not be confounded! Shew me thy ways, O Lord!—and teach me thy paths! Lead me forth in thy truth, and teach me!—for thou art the God of my salva |
