March 21st 1799, as recorded in the College Diary, it was determined by the President that prayers should he annually said after Compline on Maundy Thursday in reparation for the Sacrilegious robbery of the blessed Sacrament from the College Chapel in the night between the 20th and 21st March, the anniversary of the Institution of that sacred Mystery.

CONFRATERNITY

of the Holy and Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the conversion of sinners, established at St. Edmund's College.

OBJECT OF THE CONFRATERNITY.

1. To honour with an especial devotion the most Holy and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

2. To obtain by her intercession the conversion of sinners.

ESSENTIAL PRACTICE OF DEVOTION.

DEVOTIONS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

1. To consecrate every morning all the good actions of the day, through the Blessed Virgin, to the Holy Trinity and to the Divine Heart of Jesus, for the Conversion of Sinners.

2. To recite frequently the prayer of St. Bernard, Remember, O most blessed Virgin, etc.

3. To have on your person the miraculous medal. 4. To honour the Blessed Virgin in a particular manner on Saturday.

The particular devotion in the College, not of obligation, shall be the recital, in private, of a third part of the Rosary, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

INDULGENCES.

The indulgences to be gained by the Members are: A plenary indulgence on the day of admission; on the festival of the Confraternity, the Sunday before Septuagesima Sunday; on the feast of the Circumcision of our Lord, of the Purification, Assumption, Nativity, and Conception of the Dolours and Annunciation of our Blessed Lady, of the Conversion of St. Paul (January 25), and of St. Mary Magdalen (July 22); on the anniversary of your baptism, and at the hour of death. Also, on any two days of every month, a plenary indulgence, applicable to the souls in Purgatory.

CONDITIONS FOR GAINING THESE INDULGENCES.

2. To recite daily the Hail Mary, at least for the indulgence on the anniversary of baptism.

Every member is invited to make, on the day of his admission, an offering to the altar of the Blessed Virgin.
