Fig. 1st.-Dress of blue poplin ; the skirt long and very full, opens on each side on a pyramid of light green silk: bands of blue velvet the colour of the dress, cross these pyramids, placed three together, finished at each end by loops of velvet. High jacket body buttoning to the throat; the jacket is cut up in points, the edges finished by a French hem very wide pagoda sleeves, with small epaulette, both opening on a pyramid of green silk, and trimmed with blue velvet to correspond with the skirt: round the neck is a rûche of plain net; very large bouillon sleeves of plain net, with rûche at the wrist.

MORNING COSTUME.

Fig. 2nd.-High dress of light brown silk; double skirt, the second being trimmed at the sides by pyramids formed of narrow cerise velvet. The body à pointe is trimmed up the front by cerise velvet. Full sleeve, three quarter length, with small epaulette orjockey cut in three points and edged with cerise velvet mousquetaire cuff open at the back of the arm, and closed by coral studs: full under sleeves, with narrow wristband and worked cuff turned back.

PROMENADE COSTUME.

Fig. 3rd.-Dress à deux jupes of violetcoloured glacée silk, both skirts being per2fectly plain. Casaque of black glacée, the body fitting the figure perfectly: the bèrthe opens both at the back and front; in the opening at the back a diamond-shaped piece is sewn, the two centre points ornamented by tassels; the edge of the bèrthe is finished by a very deep black lace, headed by a

chenille fringe and very narrow jet trimming: full sleeve similar to the preceding, the under sleeve being richly embroidered. The skirt of the casaque sits in very full folds, the bottom being trimmed with lace and fringe the same as the bèrthe. Bonnet of white silk, the front of the Marie Stuart form; it is edged with blond and ornamented by fruit tresse of narrow pink velvet.

HOME COSTUME.

Fig. 1st.-Dress à deux jupes of light purple silk; on each side the second skirt are two pyramids of green silk, crossed by straps of black velvet, having a small button at each end. High body, the waist slightly pointed; narrow bretelles capes, and band of green silk narrowing to the waist, where it joins one of the pyramids. The sleeve is three-quarter length, it is a full bouillon, with plain piece at the top covered by a bell shaped epaulette, and is finished at the bottom by a narrow mousquetaire cuff. Full muslin sleeves with worked cuff turned back.

MORNING COSTUME.

Fig. 2nd.--Dress of spotted muslin; the skirt long and extremely full, is trimmed at the sides by a full bouillon, forming pyramids. The high body is fulled a little in the centre of waist both at the back and in the front; a frill of embroidered muslin forms a bèrthe which is put on square in the front and at the back; it is headed by a rûche: round the neck of the dress is a rûche which is continued down the fronts as far as the bèrthe. The sleeves have six bouillons which decrease in size towards the wrist, where they are finished by a rûche: ceinture and necktie of pink ribbon.

YOUNG LADY'S COSTUME.

Fig. 3rd.-Frock of green silk, the skirt having three flounces. Black silk pelisse,

the skirt short and very full: at each side is a bias band of velvet which is continued on the body of the pelisse to the shoulderseam; the fronts of the skirt from the edge to the band of velvet is crossed by very narrow velvet forming diamonds. The fronts are ornamented by rows of narrow velvet coming from the shoulder and meeting in points at the centre. Mousquetaire hat of white silk, ornamented with ribbon and small sprigs of Fuchsia; the edge of the hat is finished by a bugle lace.

EVENING COSTUME.

Fig. 1st.-Dress of white silk with lace flounces. Sortie de bal of lilac terry velvet and white cashmere: the collar is of white cashmere cut in deep points, which are each finished by a silk tassel; in the angles formed by these points, which are each in the centre of the stripe of white cashmere, is a small point of the terry velvet having a smaller tassel; at a little distance from the edge of the points is a narrow lilac fringe the cloak is fastened at the throat by a rich silk cord and tassels. Headdress a cache-peigne of the flowers of the convolvulus.

BALL COSTUME.

Fig. 2nd.-Dress of pale blue glacée, the skirt with three deep flounces, the top one set in with the waist; the edges of the flounces are stamped: over each flounce is another of the lightest tulle festooned in the front, the festoon fastened by groups of various flowers. Low body à point, and full sleeve of tûlle with small silk epaulette; the front of the corsage is ornamented with a drapery of tûlle divided by groups of flowers: a narrow silk frill finishes the top of corsage.

DINNER OR EVENING COSTUME.

Fig. 3rd.-Dress à deux jupes of pink glacee; the second jupe opens on each side on a pyramid of white silk at each side the pyramids a black lace is turned back, the edges finished by a narrow pink rúche. On the white silk, a black lace slightly fulled is put on in a zig-zag direction, each point being ornamented by a bow of ribbon. Low pointed corsage ; Pelerine of white silk, round which is fulled a black lace headed by a narrow pink rûche and white blond. sleeve of white silk, with small pink epaulette, trimmed with black lace headed by a

ruche at the centre of corsage and on each shoulder a bow of ribbon. Head-dress of black lace, pink ribbon and roses.

PROMENADE COSTUME.

Fig. 1st.-Dress of moire antique, the colour a very light cinnamon brown. Casaque du printemps of taffetas: at each side, the skirt is left open nearly to the waist; it is trimmed entirely round with a very full ruche of taffetas, and the openings at the sides are crossed by rûches. The body is made sufficiently large to be worn over that of a dress, and closes up the front by small buttons cape à la bèrthe edged with a rûche. The sleeves are very large, and are plaited into a very short plain piece at the top; they are left open to this piece in the front of the arm, the two sides held together by four rûches; the edges are finished by a ruche the same as that on the skirt. Bonnet of white silk, the edges of front and curtain of blue silk; two bands of blue silk are crossed on the crown, and six rows of narrow black lace are placed at equal distances across the front: a black lace is turned back from the edge of front, a narrower one finishing the edge of curtain; cap of fulled túlle, and broad blue strings.

HOME COSTUME.

Fig. 2nd.-Dress of light purple silk; the skirt long and full has all the seams covered by a band of black velvet. High jacket body buttoning to the throat; small velvet collar with narrow frill standing up inside: the jacket is cut in deep points, and has a very narrow velvet at the edge the wide sleeves are plaited into the armhole, and are ornamented with bands of velvet to correspond with the skirt; small epaulettes cut in points and edged with velvet. Full bouillon sleeves of cambric, with worked cuff. Cambric cap, à la Marie Stuart, trimmed with narrow Valenciennes lace, and crimson ribbon.

Fig. 3rd. High dress of green silk, with double skirt; at the bottom of the skirts a band is woven of a darker shade, that on the second skirt being very much deeper than that on the first. Châle-Burnous of black taffetas lined with rose-coloured silk; it is bordered entirely round by narrow velvet, quadrilled; the hood takes the form of a pelerine in the front; it is lined with pink
