out of Sodom, bring me, even me, out of sin to some place of safety.

O GOD, most merciful GOD, Who didst bring Thy people out of Egypt, O save me and deliver me from the bonds of this hateful life.

O most merciful GOD, Who didst convert the harlot Rahab, and didst save her, when all the city was destroyed, save me, even me from the wrath

to come.

O most merciful JESUS, my only hope and safety, Who didst suffer Mary Magdalene and all sinners to come unto Thee; Suffer me to come, even me. Nay, most merciful LORD, draw me, for I cannot come of myself; nor let me remain in my sins, but have swift mercy upon me. Amen.

A broken and a contrite heart,

Grant me, O LORD.

A true and lasting conversion,
Grant me, O LORD.

Have mercy upon me, speedily. LORD, save me.

O LORD, and that
I perish.

Now when thou comest to a place of safety, kneel down as soon as thou art alone, and say,

O most merciful FATHER, I am unworthy to speak to Thee, to look up to Thee, yet suffer met even thus to lift up a contrite heart and thank Thee. O give me more and more of deep and true and growing sorrow. And make me to go through any trouble with all joy to save my soul, through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD. Amen.

Then O take care, my sister, take care that thou go not back. Great and dreadful will be thy temptations of soul and of body, and nothing can save thee but great watchfulness; no one can keep thee, but He Who hath brought thee here and hath done so much for thee. Therefore keep these rules most carefully.

1. To be always at work.

2. To be patient and obedient, and never to answer again when blamed.

3. To be as plain as possible in dress.

4. To avoid talking.

5. To keep saying short prayers whilst at work, and when any bad thoughts come into thy mind.

6. To think often of the dreadful danger of Hell in which thou wast, and mayest be again, if thou art not watchful.

7. To try and feel that GOD's Eye is on thee wherever thou art, and whatever thou art doing; and to seek to please Him in what thou dost.

Try to get, or ask those who take care of thee to give thee the next Tract to this, No. II.

Prayer for Repentance.

O LORD, give Thy servant the grace of true repentance. Thou wilt not refuse when I ask sorrow of Thee. Give me an unfeigned repentance for my former sins, a hearty detestation and loathing of them, hating them worse than death with torments. Give me grace now, entirely, and for

ever to forsake them; to walk with care and humility, with sorrow and patience all my days. And fill my heart with a holy love of Thee. I am not worthy to love: yet suffer me, O suffer me to love Thee, and to weep at Thy Feet, Holy JESUS, all the days of my life. Amen.

Now farewell, my sister, GOD be with thee. He Who brought thee out keep thee. O be watchful. Heaven is before thee, Hell behind thee, and evil spirits all around thee. But GOD and His holy angels are watching over thee. O keep close to Him, and fear to leave Him for an instant.

Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son, and to the HOLY GHOST. Amen.

LOST SISTERS FOUND.

II.

BLESSED art thou, my sister, to be thus snatched as a brand from the burning. Yet take heed. Lot's wife looked back, and many a poor woman has returned to her sins and died in them. Come then with me, come apart, my sister, and think, think what thou hast been, and what thou hast to do in order to be saved. GOD gave thee thy body, thy reason, thy soul, He made them for Himself. O think then how thou hast sinned against thy Creator, and be ashamed and afraid.

Yea, and thy Maker hath done far more than this; for thee He gave His Son to die upon the Cross, and to thee He gave His most pure and holy Spirit.

Yes, when thou wast but an infant thy GOD loved thee, and had mercy upon thee. In thy baptism He made thee a member of CHRIST, His own adopted child, and an inheritor of the kingdom of Heaven.

1 S. John iii. 5; Titus iii. 5; 1 Cor. xii. 13.

What! wast thou a member of CHRIST when thou wast defiling thyself with that dreadful sin? O what wilt thou say to thy SAVIOUR Whom thou hast thus dishonoured and put to shame?

Thou a child of GOD, when thou wast acting like a child of the devil?

Thou an heir of Heaven which no unclean thing can enter; whilst thou wast loathsome and most impure, living to be an heir of Hell!

Hear what the Scripture saith of those Christians who defile their bodies :-" Know ye not that ye are the temple of GOD, and that the Spirit of GOD dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of GOD, him shall GoD destroy."1

What then canst thou expect when the Judge sits down, and the books are opened, and angels and men stand and listen, and that Eye sees thee through and through, what wilt thou answer? All those pleadings of conscience will witness against thee-those warnings-those calls-the remembrance, perhaps, of home-that sickness— that sorrow these voices of GOD to thy soul, calling on thee to stop, they will witness against thee.

What wilt thou answer in that day? whither wilt thou turn?

O Heaven, shut against sinners! O Hell, gaping to receive the lost! O thy offended GOD, thy rejected SAVIOUR! What, O poor soul, will come to thee in that day?

1 1 Cor. iii. 16, 17; vi. 19,
