CHAPTER XVIII.

1 And after these things, I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great power and the earth was enlightened by his 2 glory. And he cried with a mighty voice, saying; "She is fal"len! the great Ba"bylon is fallen! and "is become an habi"tation of demons, "and a station of "every unclean spirit, "and station of

1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power: and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have

drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her de4 licacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not par

μα, ἵνα μὴ συγκοί νωνήσητε ταῖς ἀμαρ τίαις αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐκ τῶν πληγών αὐτῆς, ἵνα μὴ λά5 βητε Ὅτι ἐκολλή θησαν αὐτῆς αἱ 2μαρτίαι ἄχρι το ἐρανε, καὶ ἐμνημό νευσεν ὁ Θεὸς τὰ ἀδικήματα αὐτῆς. 6 Απόδοτε αὐτῷ, ὡς καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπέδωκεν, καὶ διπλώσατε αὐτῇ διπλά καλὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτῆς· ἐν τῷ πόλη ρίω, ᾧ ἐκέρασε, και ράσατε αὐτῇ δύο 7 πλῶν. Ὅσα ἐδόξα σεν ἑαυτὴν καὶ ἐςρη νίασε, τοσᾶτον δότε αὐτῇ βασανισμὸν καὶ πένθω ὅτι ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς λίγει Κάθημαι βα σίλισσα, και χήρα ἐκ εἰμὶ, καὶ πένθο Β ἐ μή ἴδω. Δια τῦτο ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρας ἤξεσιν αἱ πληγαί αὐτῆς, θάνατο, καὶ πένθο και λιμός καὶ ἐν πυρὶ κατακαυθήσεται

ὅτι

ἰσχυρὸς Κύρια Θεὸς ὁ κρίνας αὐτήν. 9 Καὶ κλαύσονται και κόψονται ἐπ ̓ αὐτῇ οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γης,

οἱ μετ ̓ αὐτῆς ποργούσανίες και τρηνιά

I heard another voice from heaven, saying;

« Come out of her, my

takers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues:

people, that ye benot | 5 For her sins have "partakers of her sins,

ment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgement come. 11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her, for no man buyeth her merchandize any 12 more: The merchandize of gold, and siland precious stones, and of pearls, and of fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and 13 marble; And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves; and souls of men. 14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after, departed fro:n thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly, are departed from thee, and thou

chants of these things which were made rich by her, shail stand áfar off, for the fear of her torment, weeping, and 16 wailing, And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was cloathed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold,

and precious stones, 17 and pearls: For in

one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every ship-master, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, 18 stood afar off, And

cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this 19 great city? And they

cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, say

τες· Οὐαὶ, ἐαὶ, ἡ πόλις ή μεγάλη, ἐν ᾗ ἐπλέτησαν πάντες οἱ ἔχοντες τὰ πλοῖα ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ, ἐκ τῆς τιμιότητα. αὐτῆς, ὅτι μια ώρα ήρη20 μώθη. Εὐφραίνε ἐπ ̓ αὐτὴν, ἐρανέ, καὶ οἱ ἅγιοι καὶ οἱ ἀπόςολοι καὶ οἱ προφῆται, ὅτι ἔκρινεν ὁ Θεὸς τὸ κρίμα ὑμῶν ἐξ αυτ 21 τῆς. Καὶ ἦρεν εἷς ἄγελα. ἰσχυρὸς λίθου, ὡς μύλον μέγαν, καὶ ἔβαλεν εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, λέ γων· Οὕτως ὁρμής ματι βληθήσεται Βαβυλὼν ἡ μεγάλη πόλις, καὶ ἢ μὴ 22 εὑρεθῇ ἔτι. Καὶ φωνὴ κιθαρωδῶν καὶ μεσικῶν καὶ αὐλητῶν καὶ σαλπιςῶν ὁ μὴ ἀκασθῇ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι. καὶ πᾶς τεχνίτης πάσης τέχνης μὴ εὑρεθῇ ἐν σοὶ

ἔτι· καὶ φωνὴ μύλο ὁ μὴ ἀκεσθῇ ἐν σοὶ 23 ἔτι· Καὶ φῶς λύχ

να κ μὴ φανῇ ἐν · σοὶ ἔτι καὶ φωνή νυμφίε καὶ νύμφης ἐ μὴ ἀκεσθῇ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι ὅτι οἱ ἔμπορεί

of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee; for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all na24 tions deceived: And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
