On what day was it performed?
How long had this man been lame?
Were the Jews pleased with this exhibition of
his power and kindness?

Of what did they accuse him?

-

v. 18.

19 WHAT does he now say about his power ? Does he yet call himself the Son of God? What are some things that Jesus did which the Father does? - Chap. 1 3. Heb. 1: 3.

Will a good and obedient child do any thing of
himself, or for himself, opposed to his father's
will?

Was Jesus desirous of obeying the will of his
Father? Matt. 26: 42.

Can you tell the reason why he could do noth-
ing of, or for himself?

Does his Son Jesus see all that God does?
Can man see how God performs his works, as
Jesus can?

If a child knows all that you know, and is able
to do every thing which you can, is he not
equal to you in knowledge and power?

20 How does the Father feel toward his Son Jesus? What does he show him?

What will he hereafter show him?

Can you repeat some of the wonderful things which Jesus had already done?

21 WHAT does Jesus say the Father had done? Do you recollect any instance in which the power of God had been shown in raising the dead in old times?-1 Kings 17: 19-24. 2 Kings 4: 32-35.

Will you relate these occurrences in your own language?

Did these prophets raise those dead children to life by their own power, or did God do it by them?

Did Jesus raise the dead of himself?

What did he say in Chap. 10: 18, about his power to raise himself from the dead?

Then, was his power not different from that of the prophets?

22 WHAT did he say the Father did not do ? To whom has he committed all judgment? Are not the raising of all the dead and judging the world much greater works than healing one sick man?

Should you think Jesus would be able to judge the world, if he did not know the hearts of all people?

According to what principle will men be judged? - Matt. 25: 34-46.

Does he know your heart?

Do you think if you should die as you now are, Jesus would condemn you at the day of judgment?

28 WHOм did Jesus say men should honor? To what extent ?

How may we honor God?

Do you know any persons who do not reverence, praise, and obey God?

If a person pretends to honor the Father, and
disregards and speaks lightly of his Son Jesus
Christ, will God accept him?

Can those who do not honor Jesus, honor God?
Why?

24 WHAT does Jesus say of such as hear, or attend

to his instructions and believe on the Father? Into what shall they not come ?

In what state are all such as do not believe in
Jesus Christ-Chap. 3: 18. Eph. 2: 1.
From what are such passed, as believe and obey
the instructions of the Savior?

What young persons can you name, who, you
think, have passed into this happy state from
a state of condemnation ?

25 WHAT does Jesus say is coming?

By whom will all the dead be raised at the
Judgment?

What person did he raise from the dead very
soon after this? Matt. 9: 23 — 26.

What other persons did he raise from the dead while on the earth? Luke 7: 11-19. John

11: 43, 44.

26 HAS the Father the power of himself to give life?

To whom has he given the same power?

27 WHAT authority has he also given to Jesus? What is the reason here given?

28 DID Jesus tell them not to wonder at what he had declared to them?

What did he say was coming?

Whose voice is it that they shall hear?

29 WHAT shall they do when they hear his voice?
Who will be present at that solemn scene?
Will all the children who have died in all the
world, and all men killed in battle, and all
drowned in the sea, come forth alive?
Do you really think all will come up out of the
graves, in that burying-ground, where you
have seen people buried?

What is said of those who have done good?
What of those who have done evil?
Will you repeat Dan. 12: 2?

Should you think from this, that persons who
are bad when they die, would ever become
good

Can any, except the good, be happy ?

Does it not become all to prepare for that day? 30 WHAT did Jesus say, v. 19?

Does he repeat the same thing in this verse? Will the sentence of condemnation he pronounces, be just ?

Whose will does he say he seeks ?

If you seek to please another, do you act merely for your own pleasure?

Now can you see clearly why Jesus said, I can do nothing of myself?

31 WHAT did he say about bearing witness of himself?

Can you recollect some occasion when there

was testimony from heaven, that Jesus was the Son of God? Matt. 3: 17.

82 HAD he other evidence beside his own words? Was this testimony of John true?

33 FOR what occasion did they send to John ? Chap. 1: 19.

What did John call Jesus on that occasion ? 34 DID Jesus need the declaration of John, or any other man, to prove that he was the Son of God?

For what did he say he had made these remarks?

When they saw how Jesus was fulfilling what John had foretold, would they not be likely tó believe on him?

35 WHAT does Jesus say of John ?

How does he say the people received him for a time?

Why do you suppose they did not continue to be pleased with him?

Are persons inclined to love those who tell them their faults ?

You have seen that Jesus will raise all the dead, and judge the world; row will you think of this often through the week?

LESSON XII.

The Evidence of the Divinity of Jesus from his Works and Scripture.

CH. V. 36-47.

36 But I have greater witness than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice. at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life and they are they which testify of me.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41 I receive not honor from men.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, bin ye will receive.

44 How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote

of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

In the last lesson, what did Jesus say he had in
himself? V. 26.

When the people appeared astonished at what
he had told, what did he say they should see?
Did you not think that if he could raise all the
dead, and if he was to judge the world, he
knew all things and could do all things?
Do you think you love the teachings of Jesus?
Will you recollect to-day that he sees and hears
us in all we do and say?

Have you thought much of the judgment, at
which all good and all the bad persons must
appear

?

36 HAD Jesus stronger evidence that he was the Son of God, than the declaration of John or any other person ?
