(FIRST TUNE.)

Fight the good fight of faith. I Tim. vi: 12.

I Fight the good fight with all thy might,
Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right;
Lay hold on life, and it shall be

Thy joy and crown eternally.

2 Run the straight race through God's good grace,
Lift up thine eyes, and seek His face;

Life with its way before us lies,
Christ is the path, and Christ the prize.

371 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Ps. xxvii; 3.

I God is my strong salvation,
What foe have I to fear?
In darkness and temptation
My light, my help is near.

2 Though hosts encamp around me,
Firm to the fight I stand;
What terror can confound me,
With God at my right hand?

3 Place on the Lord reliance,

My soul, with homage wait;
His truth be thine affiance

When faint and desolate.

4 His might thy heart shall strengthen,
His love thy joy increase;
Mercy thy days shall lengthen,
The Lord will give thee peace.

1 Forever blessed be the Lord,

My Saviour and my shield;
He sends His Spirit with His Word
To arm me for the field.

2 When sin and hell their force unite,
He makes my soul His care;
Instructs me in the heavenly fight,
And guards me through the war.

3 A friend and helper so divine
My fainting hope shall raise;
He makes the giorious victory mine,
And His shall be the praise.

With thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. Ps. xxxvi: 9.

I Jesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts,

Thou Fount of life! Thou Light of men!
From the best bliss that earth imparts,
We turn unfilled to Thee again.

2 Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
Thou savest those that on Thee call;
To them that seek Thee Thou art good,
To them that find Thee, All in All.

3 We taste Thee, O Thou Living Bread,
And long to feast upon Thee still;
We drink of Thee, the Fountain Head,
And thirst our souls from Thee to fill!

4 Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,

Where'er our changeful lot is cast;
Glad, when Thy gracious smile we see,
Blest, when our faith can hold Thee fast.

5 O Jesus, ever with us stay;

Make all our moments calm and bright;
Chase the dark night of sin away,

Shed o'er the world Thy holy light! Dox. II.
