Search me, O GOD, and | know my heart:

Try me, and | know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked | way in | me:
And lead me in the way ever lasting.

A NEW Commandment I give unto you, That ye

love

one another. As I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

I will wash my hands in | innocence:

So will I compass thine | altar, O | LORD:

That I may publish with the voice of | thanks|giving:
And tell of all thy | wondrous | works.

I AM the Good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Thou preparest a table before me,
In the presence of mine | enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth | over.

I AM the bread of life: he that cometh unto Me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst.

What shall I render to the | LORD,
For all his benefits | toward | me?
I will take the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the LORD.

I AM the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Unto Him that loved us,

And washed us from our sins in his own blood,

And hath made us kings and priests unto | GOD · and his |
FATHER,

To Him be glory and dominion for | ever and ever: Amen.

THE INCARNATION OF THE LORD.

N the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD: and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Thou, O LORD, art our Father, our Redeemer ;
Thy name is from ever lasting.

AND there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night: and, lo, the angel of the LORD came upon them, and the glory of the LORD shone round about them; and they were sore afraid.

Arise, shine, for thy | light is | come,

And the glory of the LORD is | risen up on thee.

AND the angel said unto them, Fear not for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

How beautiful up on the mountains

Are the feet of him that | bringeth good | tidings:

That pro claimeth | peace :

That bringeth good | tidings of good.

FOR unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is CHRIST the LORD and this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Unto us a Child is | born;

Unto us a Son is given:

And the government shall be upon his | shoulder,

And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the
Mighty GOD, FATHER of eternity, the | Prince of |
Peace.

AND suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising GOD, and saying:

Glory to GOD in the | highest,

On earth peace, among men good | will.

I WILL declare the decree the LORD hath said unto me: Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee. ¶ Here may be sung Selection 10, page 6, or some other suitable Selection.

PENITENCE.

MY people, what have I done unto thee, and wherein have I wearied thee? Answer me. For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage.

All we, like sheep, have gone a stray :

We have turned, every | one to his own way.

THOU calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah.

Whither shall I go from thy | Spirit?

Or whither shall I | flee from thy | presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, | Thou art | there:

If I make my bed in hell, be hold, Thou art | there.

O THAT thou hadst hearkened to my commandments then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteous ness as the waves of the sea.

If Thou, O LORD, shouldst | mark in iquities,
O LORD, who shall stand?
But with Thee is forgiveness,
That Thou mayst be feared.

WHAT more could have been done to my vineyard that I have not done in it?

Wherefore when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

Return, we beseech Thee, O | GOD of hosts :

Look down from heaven, and be hold, and | visit this | vine,
And the vineyard which thy right | hand hath | planted,
And the branch that Thou | madest | strong for thy self.

O ISRAEL, thou hast destroyed thyself; thou hast fallen by thine iniquity: but in Me is thine help.

Have mercy upon | me, O | GOD,

According to thy | loving-kindness;

According to the multitude of thy | tender | mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.

O ISRAEL, I have blotted out as a thick cloud thy transgressions, and as a cloud thy sins: return unto Me, for I have redeemed thee.

So will we not go back from | Thee;
Quicken us, and we will

Turn us again, O LORD
And cause thy face to

call upon thy | name.

GOD of hosts:

shine, and we shall be saved

O ISRAEL: return unto the LORD thy GOD.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD.

I AM the Resurrection and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.

The LORD is my | light

The LORD is the

THE angel of the LORD descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it; his countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.
