TE igitur clementier Wand beseech thee,

Pater,

therefore, most merciful Father, thro' Jesus Christ thy Son, our Lord, that thou wouldst vouchsafe to accept and bless these Gifts, these Presents, these holy unspotted Sacrifices, which in the first place we offer thee for thy holy Catholic Church, to which vouchsafe to grant peace; as also to preserve, unite, and govern it thoughout the world, together with thy servant N. our Pope, N. our Bishop, and N. our King, as also all orthodox believers and professors of the Catholic and Apostolic Faith.

COMMUNICANTES, et memoriam venerantes, imprimis gloriosæ semper Virginis Mariæ, Genitricis Dei et Domini nostri Jesu Christi: sed et beatorum Apostolorum ac Martyrum tuorum, Petri et Pauli, Andreæ, Jacobi, Joannis, Thomæ, Jacobi, Philippi, Bartholomæi, Matthæi, Simonis et Thadiæ, Lini, Cleti,

Spreading his Hands over the Oblation, he says,

Amen. Quam oblationem tu Deus in omnibus, quæsumus, benedictam, adscriptam, ratam, rationabilem, acceptabilemque facere digneris: ut

WE THEREFORE beseech thee, O Lord, graciously to accept this oblation of our servitude, as also of thy whole family; dispose our days in thy peace, preserve us from eternal damnation, and rank us in the number of thine Elect. Thro' Christ our Lord. Amen.

Which oblation do thou, O God, vouchsafe in all respects to bless, approve, ratify, and accept; that it may be made for us the Body

and Blood of thy most beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord.*

During the ELEVATION and CONSECRATION,
some of the following aspirations may assist :—
Dear Lord, our Saviour, come! oh, come
And bless thy suppliant's lowly doom.
But oh, prepare my breast

Come thou!

Unworthy else of such a guest :
Unworthy e'en to see thee lie,
Cloathed in tremendous mystery,
On this, thine altar: oh, prepare
My heart each promis'd grace to share.

And let me bless this kind disguise,
This veil for our infirmities,
Which hides thy glory, all too great
For man in this his fallen state,

Who the day before he suffered, took bread into his holy and venerable hands, and with his eyes lifted up towards heaven, giving thanks to thee, Almighty God, his Father: he blessed it, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat ye all of this, FOR THIS IS MY

BODY.

But lets us claim the promise due
To faith-confiding, firm and true.
I do believe, dear Lord! but thou,
Do thou still firmer faith bestow.
Thee still my Saviour I confess;
Teach me to pray, to love, to bless!

And grant me, Lord, my daily bread;

After pronouncing the Words of consecration, the Priest hneeling adores and elevates the sacred Host.

Simili modo postquam conatum est, accipiens et hunc præclarum calicem in sanctas ac venerabiles manus suas, item tibi gratias agens benedixit, deditque discipulis suis, dicens: ACCIPITE ET BIBITE EX EO OMNES, CALIX HIC EST ENIM SANGUINIS MEI NOVI ET ÆTERNI 1ESTAMENTI: MYSTERIUM FIDEI QUI PRO VOBIS ET PRO MULTIS EFFUNDETUR IN REMISSIONEM PECCATORUM.

Hæc quotiescunque feceritis, in mei memoriam facietis.

In like manner, after he had supped, taking also this excellent chalice into his holy and venerable hands, giving thee also thanks, he blessed, and gave it to his disciples, saying:

OF

TAKE AND DRINK YE
ALL OF THIS, FOR THIS
IS THE CHALICE
MY BLOOD OF THE
NEW AND ETERNAL
TESTAMENT: THE MY-
STERY OF FAITH:
WHICH SHALL BE SHED

FOR YOU, AND FOR
MANY, FOR THE RE-
MISSION OF SINS.

As often as you do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of me.
