For the Light of the Holy Spirit.

O MOST glorious Lord God, receive the prayers and intercessions of us, and of all others thy servants, who, entering into thy house, shall call upon thee this day and give to all of us grace, that we may prepare our hearts to serve thee with reverence and godly fear. Affect us with an awful apprehension of thy heavenly Majesty, and with a deep sense of our own unworthiness: that so, approaching thy sanctuary with lowliness and devotion, and appearing before thee with clean thoughts and pure hearts, with bodies undefiled, and minds sanctified, we may be living temples, holy and acceptable

Thanksgiving for Regeneration and Adoption into the Church.

WE yield thee hearty thanks, most merciful Father, that it hath pleased thee to regenerate us, thy servants, with thy Holy Spirit, to receive us for thine own children by adoption, and to incorporate us into thy holy Church. And humbly we beseech thee to grant, that we, being dead unto sin, and living unto righteousness, and being buried with Christ in his death, may crucify the old man, and utterly abolish the whole body of sin; and that, as we are made partakers of the death of thy Son, we may also be partakers of his resurrection; so that finally, with the residue of thy holy Church, we may be inheritors of thine everlasting kingdom; through Christ, our Lord. Amen.*

[Thanksgiving for the Redemption of the World, to be said when the Holy Communion is about to be administered.

We give most humble and hearty thanks to thee, O God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, for the redemption of the world by the death and passion of our Saviour Christ, both God and Man; who did humble himself, even to the death upon the cross, for us, miserable sinners, who lay in darkness and the shadow of death; that he might make us the children of God, and exalt us to everlasting life. And to the end that we should alway remember the exceeding great love of our Master, and only Saviour, Jesus Christ, thus dying for us, and the innumerable benefits which by his precious blood-shedding he hath obtained to us; he hath instituted and ordained holy mysteries, as pledges of his love, and for a continual remembrance of his death, to our great and endless comfort. To him therefore, with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, we give (as we are most bounden) continual thanks; submitting ourselves
