Ninth Month at Roaring Creek, Tenth and Eleventh Months at Catawissa, and Twelfth Month at Shamokin.

Answer to Second Annual Query. There are 41 Schools reported in eight Quarterly Meetings, under the care of committees appointed in the Monthly and Preparative Meetings. Nearly all of these are taught by members of our Society, and the pupils mostly attend Mid-week Meetings with their teachers.

The minutes of the Representative Committee were read, and their proceedings approved.*

By direction of this Meeting last year, the Representative Committee forwarded to the Subordinate Meetings the following Queries, with a view of ascertaining the number of children belonging to the Society within our limits, and the number of such as attend Schools under the care of Monthly and Preparative Meetings. Answers have been received from our constituent branches, excepting from the Monthly Meetings of Burlington to queries 2 to 12 inclusive, and from Upper Springfield Monthly Meeting to queries 5 to 12 inclusive, both of which Monthly Meetings are branches of Burlington Quarterly Meeting, as follows:

* This Committee meets on 6th day after 2d second day in the 3d, 9th, and 12th Month, at 10A.M., and on 2d and 5th day evenings of Yearly Meeting week, at 7 o'clock at Race Street Meeting-house.

First Query.-How many schools are there established for the education of our youth, under the care of teachers in membership with us, and superintended by committees appointed in the Monthly or Preparative Meetings; and, do the pupils and teachers attend our midweek meetings?

Third.-How many are members of Meeting?
Fourth.-How many have one parent a member?
Fifth.-How many minor children belong to your Meeting?

From the reports of our constituent Meetings it ap

pears that correspondents have been appointed from their respective Meetings.

The following report was read and the labors of the Committee approved. It is continued and encouraged to give further attention to the object of its appointment as way may open therefor.

To the Yearly Meeting.

The Joint Committee on Indian affairs, appointed by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, report:

That they met on Fifth Month, 14th, 1869, and proceeded to organize under their minute of appointment, there being present 37 members, and absent 8. For the absence of several, satisfactory reasons were assigned. Jacob M. Ellis was appointed Clerk.

An Executive Committee of four of each sex was appointed (to which the Clerk was added) whose duties were thus defined: "To receive all communications and documents addressed to this body; to have a general supervision of the interests of the concern, and to call Special Meetings of this Committee, when occasion may require."

"Also to settle all bills approved by this Committee, by drawing orders on the Treasurer of the Yearly Meeting for expenses thus incurred."
