ON being called upon to give the first of a series of Lectures, in this city, intended to promote the Study of Prophecy, I have thought that I could not do better, in the Introductory Discourse, than draw your attention to the importance of this study; for just in proportion as our minds are duly persuaded on this point, shall we find ourselves disposed to pursue the investigation with more or less of diligence and patience. And let me here, in the outset, entreat you, brethren, to lift up your hearts to God with me in prayer, that you may be enabled to cast aside all prejudices, and to approach this deeply interesting portion of Holy Writ with the candour, and humility, and teachableness of spirit, that shall dispose you to receive with meekness the engrafted |
