UR Magazine for the Year 1765, is crowded with Articles of general Concern and Curiofity. There is, perhaps, fcarce any Period of Time in which the Prerogative of the Crown, the Privileges of Parliament, and the Liberties of the People, have been more fully difcuffed, or more impartially determined: To this Difcuffion and Determination we have attended with particular Diligence, as they may be traced in every Number of cur Mifcellany; yet we have not neglected other Articles of Information or Amufement, as will appear from the following brief Sketch, in which many interefting Particulars must neceffarily be omitted. སྣ་ ༢ །

In JANUARY, we communicated to the Public an Account of a very extraordinary Female Genius in Germany, with a Specimen of her Works; some Particulars of the Life of the celebrated Leibnitz; a Defence of the Bishops, for oppofing Alterations in the Liturgy; many ufeful Particulars relating to Hufbandry, to the Discovery of the Longitude, and to the American Colonies with a moft circumftantial and authentic Narrative of the very extraordinary Robbery of Lord Harrington,

In FEBRUARY, we gave an Account of Dr B's Treatife on Civil Liberty, with Remarks; of the falutary Effects of a new Remedy for the Stone; of the second Volume of the celebrated Linnæus's Syftema Nature; of the Maid of the Mill, a Ballad Opera; alfo a most curious Table, exhibiting the ftandard Weight, Value, and a comparitive View of English Gold Money, from K. William I. Anno 1066, to K. George III. 1764.

MARCH contains an impartial State of the Conteft concerning Eaf India. Directors; a View of the State of the Nation; Confiderations upon the Policy of Entails; Jeannet and Colin, a moral Tale; an Account of the Life of Churchill; humorous Story of an amorous Friar; Anecdotes from Huetius; and a remarkable American Expedient to prevent Poverty, and retrieve a Man's Affairs.

In APRIL are fome judicious Remarks on the Plan of a Bill for amending the Highways; an Account of the Life of Wicliffe; the Hiftory of Uriel Acafin, an apoftate Jew; remarkable Particulars of the Life of the celebrated John Banyan; an entertaining Tale from Voltaire; and many Articles relating to Husbandry, Aftronomy, Mechanics, and other Sciences.

MAY contains a new Life of the celebrated Moliere, from Voltaire; à paricular and authentic Narrative of the Duel between a noble Lord and Mr Chatearth; an Account of the Life and Writings of Dr Stukeley, who called himfelf the British Druid; plain Directions for preferving and recovering Health. by the celebrated Dr Tyffot of Geneva; an Enquiry into the Nature, Caufe, and Care of a new and fatal Disease, called the Croup; Obfervations on the Namber and Mifery of the Poor; Memoirs of the Life of Guflavus Ado'phus Characters of Lord Oxford and Lord Bolingbroke; with many other Articles of Use and Eetertainment.

In JUNE, befides other Articles of Entertainment, is the Trial of Friendfhip, a Tale, from Marmontel; the Story of Foote's Commiffary; an Account of new Discoveries in Agriculture; a remarkable Letter of Chriftina, Queen of Sweden, on Tolleration; curious Particulars of the Field or Mole Cricket; Defcription of the new Chapel at Market Harborough; and new Dialogues of the Dead: There is also a curious Differtation on the Force of Imagination in pregnant Women; an Abstract of the Regency Act; of the Act for preferving Fish; and an interesting Article concerning the cutting of Logwood. JULY, among other Articles of Entertainment, contains the Dream of ras; and a Letter from a celebrated German Collection: Alfo a Letter to Lord B on the Change in the Miniftry; and the hoeft Man's Reasons for taking no Part in the Administration, Pieces fuppofed to have been written

by Perfons of Distinction; with a Comparison of Balfour and Spotfwood's Ac
counts of the Earl of Murray's Murder; a Method of destroying Wasps and
Hornets; and many other curious Particulars.

AUGUST contains an Account of the Life and Writings of Dr Bradley
an Examination of Dean Swift's Thoughts on Religion; an authentic Narra
tive of the Young Pretender's Elcape after the Battle of Culloden; of the hor-
rid Combination of Barney Carrol and his Gang, and a particular Account of
their maiming Mr Cranley; fome Particulars of the Muider of Mr Ogilvy in
Scotland; Particulars of the Life of Mrs B. Grand daughter to Oliver Crom
well; and many curious Articles of political Controversy.

In SEPTEMBER, there is an Epitome of a new Treatife on Tythes: an Ac-
count and Examination of an entertaining Work, called, A comparative View
of the State of Men and Brutes; interefting Events relative to Bengal; a new De-
fcription of an Illand little known; fpirited and judicious Remarks on the
City Addrefs; and other curious political Articles.

In OCTOBER, Reafons are alledged for refpiting Captain Ogilvy, con.
demned for murdering his Brother; a new Species of Intelligence Extraordi.
nary, in the Form of Ship News, is exhibited; the Proceedings of the Ame-
ricans in confequence of the Stamp Act, are regularly related; and an Ac-
count is given of the Diffection of a Mummy; a Story propofed for a new
Tragedy; Obfervations on the Unwholefomenefs of Hofpitals; and feveral
Articles of lefs Importance.

NOVEMBER is remarkable for the Letters of the prefent Dutchefs de Bouf-
Beurs, on her taking the natural Small pox after Inoculation; fome original
Letters of the great Henry IV. of France; ftrange Inftances of the fascinating
Power of Snakes; general Remarks on the Plays of Shakespeare by Mr John-
fon; a particular and authentic Narrative of the Murder of Mr Ogilvy, from
the Trial of the Criminals; with feveral medical Cafes, new Discoveries, A-
necdotes, and Remarks.

In DECEMBER, the Right of the British Parliament to tax America is ex-
amined; an Account is given of the Murder of the Captain, Paffengers, and
two thirds of a Ship's Company; the Character of Henry the Vth of Eng-
land, from a new Work; Remarks on fome Paffages in the Letters of Henry
the IVth; an Epitome of the laft Volume of the Philofophical Tranfactions, con-
taining many curious Particulars; the Caufe of Mortality among Infants,
and the Remedy.

In the SUPPLEMENT, the Continuation of the Abbe Winckleman's Disco-
veries in Herculaneum; Dr. Cook's remarkable Letter on the Existence of invi-
fible Beings, Forewarners of future Events; the Proceedings in the late Auto
de Fé in Portugal; Capt. Williams's Account of Newfoundland, and the Impor-
tance of its Fishery to Great Britain; the authentic Account of the Introduc-
tion of the Tea-Tree into England, the Honour of having first introduced
it into Europe having, upon a late Occafion, been claimed by France-are Ar-
ticles, among a Variety of others, that do Credit to the GENTLEMAN'S MA-
GAZINE. We have only to acknowledge the Favours of our Correfpon-
dents, and requeft the Continuance of their Contributions.

To the Articles above recited, are added, a complete and regular
Series of Foreign and Domeftic History; a felect Mifcellany of Poetry; and
