to that Text in Heb. ix. 26. which fays that now once in the end of the World, bath be appeared to put away Sin, &c. These things I fay if duly confider'd make the matter Evident, and appear undeniable that we are got into the very laft of the laft Days.

But thirdly, The Day of the Lord must certainly be near at hand, as will further appear if that Opinion be true, which has been efpoufed and profeffed by fome great, learned, and good Men: That as the Lord was fix Days in creating of the World, (which he could have created in a Moment if he pleafed) fo be will be fix Days in ruling or governing of the fame, or fix thousand Tears, adding a thousand Years to a Day, a thousand Tears with the Lord being but as one Day. And that therefore it was that the Lord was fix Days in creating of the World, that this Myftery might be fhadowed out by it. And that as the feventh Day was fanctified to be kept (or one Day in Seven) as holy, or Sabbath of Reft unto the Lord; to be a Figure or a Tipe of the great Sabbothtins of the thousand Tears, or that glorious Reft which remains for the People of God; to begin and continue throughout the Kingdom of Chrift with the Saints, when their fix Days Labour and Trouble fhall be ended. And if fo, then this glorious Time, which I have been speaking of muft certainly be near. For according to the common Account, there does not remain three hundred Years for to compleat the fix thoufand from the Creation, ere this bleffed Millenium, or the thousand Tears is to take Place; and therefore it cannot be long before the firft Branch or fpiritual Glory of Chrift's Kingdom muft begin. Befides all this, if the Account be true, which fome latter

Writers have given us, that have more diligently obferved, and found out fome Miftakes in the former Calculation, who affirm that we are now got very near to the Expiration of the fix thousand Tears from the Creation, then muft this time certainly be at hand. But let the matter be taken in either of these Confiderations, if duely weighed, the Coming, Glory, and Kingdom of Chrift cannot be far off, with refpect unto the firft Branch of it.

Again fourthly, This glorious Day will appear to be very near, from the Confideration of that Scripture Line of time, drawn throughout both the Old and New Teftament: We read in Dan. xii. 6, and 7. (after the Queftion was asked) how long hall it be to the End of thefe Wonders? The answer was by the Man cloathed in Linnen (who fwore with his Hands lifted up unto Heaven) that it should be for a Time, Times, and a half; when he hall have accomplished to fcatter the Powers of the Holy People, all thefe things fhall be finished. That is when Antichrift fhall have filled up the Measure of his Iniquity ; and the Children of God fhall have filled up the Measure of their Sufferings. For these are to run Contemporary; the time of Antichrift reigning, is the time of the Saints Sufferings, as they begin, fo they will end together. And both thefe are comprised within the Limits of the time, times, and a half, as agreeing with what is expreffed in the twelfth of the Revelations, Verse 6. And the Woman (that is theChurch) fled into the Wilderness, where he had a Place prepared of God, (the Lord had prepared a Place for her Safety, though in a Wildernefs) that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threefcore Days. fand two hundred and fixty Days is the fame with the time, times and half; as may be feen in Verfe 14. And to the Woman was given two Wings of a great Eagle, that he might flee into the Wilderness into ber Place; where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a Time, from the Face of the Serpent, which otherwife would have deftroyed and fwallowed her up by the Flood. Well! Here we see the Church of God is kept, during the time of Antichrift's Reign, though in a Suffering State. Which Thumbly conceive is the fame with the forty two Months of the Witneffes prophefying in Sackcloth. And the HolyCity fhall they tread under Foot forty two Months Rev. xi. 2. And in v. 3. I will give Power unto my two Witneffes, and they shall prophefy a thoufand two hundred and threefcore Days cloathed in Sackcloth. So that from the whole it doth appear, that the Time, times and half, both in Daniel and Revelations, is the fame time with the one thousand two hundred and fixty Days of the Churches being in the Wildernefs, the forty two Months for the Holy City to be trodden under Foot; and the two Witneffes prophefying in Sackcloth. It doth evidently appear alfo, that thefe forty two Months, in which the holy City is to be trampled under Foot, is the time of Antichrift's reigning, as in Rev. xiii. 5. And there was given unto him a Mouth Speaking great things, and blafphemy; (this certainly muft be Antichrift) and Power was given unto him to coutinue forty and two Months. In which time the Witneffes prophefy in Sackcloth, in a Mourning State, whilft the Church is in the Wilderness.

Thus we fee that here is a clear Scripture Line of time drawn out, as one and the fame time expreffed in both the Teftaments, how long Anti

chrift is to reign, and the Church of God to com tinue in her forrowful, mourning and wildernes State, it is to be for forty two Months; a time, tim and an half, or one thousand two hundred and f Days of Tears. All the Difficulty lies in the K ledge when this time, times and a half, or the one thousand two hundred and fixty Days hega It is true that fome learned and good Men, w have made it their Study to fearch into thefe ftical Numbers, and to define when this time be gan, and fo confequently fixed the time when the one thousand two hundred and fixty Days, or Years fhould have an end; (wherein Antichrift fhould be deftroyed, and the Saints fhould be deli vered) have lived, or others have lived to fe them miftaken; which the Lord hath fuffered in his Providence, either for a further Trial of the Faith of his People, or for a further hardening the Wicked, whofe Hearts are fet upon Wickedne Yet it is no fmall Argument to me as to the nearnefs of this promifed Glory, from the Agreement that there is in moft, if not all, who have writ upon these Numbers. They all generally agreeing that the one thousand two hundred and fixty Days of the Beafts reigning, and the Saints Sufferings, are ended, or upon the Expiration, and cannot now be long according to the furtheft Account, e're the Kingdom of Chrift will be fet up in the, World. Fifthly, There is fomething further to be ob ferved, as an Argument in the Proof of nefs of this glorious time, from the Witneffes pro phefying and that is, if the time of the Wit neffes prophefying one thousand two hundred and fixty Days in Sackcloth be paft, as many do think

ordingly have writ; or as others who be time is not, paft, but near upon the Expiration, then certainly it cannot now be fat off when theChurch of God fhall be delivered, upon the Refurrection of the Witneffes, which will bethe time f Antichriff's Destruction, and the beginning f Chrift's Spiritual Reign, which we have grou o believe must be very near, from what fat Bbeen lready faid, befides the Scripture Signs, that are o evidently fulfilled upon us. But now I am upon his, I fhall in a few Words Judgment give my oncerning the two Witneffes. Though indeed y Thoughts do much differ from what Lome good Ten have writ upon this Matter. As for the Wit effes I look upon them to be the People of God, who always in all Ages bore witnefs unto the truth Chrift, against the falfe and erroneous Doctrines f Men. Te are my Witnesses faith the Lord. Ifa. lift. to. This was Ifrael, who were the only vid ible People of God then in the World. Agam in He first of the Acts, Verfe eight, and ye all be Fitnesses unto me both in Jerufalem and in all Judea, nd in Samaria, and unto the uttermoft Parts of the Earth. Thefe were Chrift's Words unto the Apo tles, which fhews that the People of God (both inder the Law, and the Difpenfation of the Gofpel) were and ftill are his Witneffes. And there fore this is not to be understood of the old and new Teftament as fome, nor of Magiftracy and Miniftry as others; But the People of Ged in all Ages, and nore efpecially thofe who are to prophecy in the ime of the one thousand two hundred and fixty Days. The reafon why they are faid to be two, is, as I umbly conceive, to fhew the Fewness of thofe
