pointed, to be a continual Signification unto them, how wonderfully the Lord had delivered their Fore fathers from the Bondage and Servitude of the Egyptians, and preferved them from the deftroying Angel, and more fpiritually was to fhew how they, as well as we, are delivered from the Bondage and Servitude of Sin, Satan, and wicked Men, by Chriff's (which that Lamb was a Type of) being facrificed for us.

Again Fifthly, There was the Fear of the Fir Fruits, which did prefigure unto all the true If raelites, the Lord Jefus, who is the firft Fruits of them that flept, the first that rose from the dead unto a Life of Immortality; and through whom their Perfons and Offerings (as well as ours) are accepted; it being through Chrift that the Saints have Part in the firft Refurrection, and therefore in him do become as a kind of Fruits unto God and the Lamb.

Sixthly and Laftly, we real of the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of the goodly Boughs of Olives and Palms, which was to be brought out at this time; all which did doubtlefs type out this glorious State, that I have been speaking of. The Feaft of Tabernacles, was to fhew how they once dwelt in Tabernacles and Tents with Abraham, Ifaac, and Facob: And how the Lord had now advanced and dignified them into a Kingdom of Priests; and alfo to fhew how they should be higher advanced ftill in the Kingdom of the Meffiah; when the Tabernacle of God fhall be with Men, (and by the Glory of his Divine Prefence,) will dwell in the midst of them:

Oh,

Oh! What a Time of Refreshing will this be unto the Saints! What a Time of perfect and com pleat Victory over all their Enemies! Signified by the goodly Boughs of Olives and Palms which they were to bear in their Hands: And did reprefent no lefs than a perfect Paradifical State; when all the Beauty, Glory, and Excellency of the Creation fhall be restored, called the Times of the Reftitution of all things, Acts iii. 21. Oh! What goodly Boughs of Olives and Palms of Victory will each Child of God carry in their Hands! When the Lord of Hofts fhall in this glorious Mountain make a Feaft of fat things full of Marrow, and Wines on the Lees well refined. All which thefe Feafts did fo excellently type and fhadow out.

If great and noble Men, Kings and earthly Princes, make fuch fumptuous Feafts, in the Celebration of their Nuptials, or the Day of their Coronation: How much more then, or what a Feaft will the Lord Jehovah make, for the Marriage of his Son; when the Spoufe his Bride fhall be fo beautifully adorned with the Robes of Glory? For this will not only be the Time of the Marriage but her Coronation Day too. Oh the Joy that the Heart of Chrift and the Saints will be filled with, when it fhall be faid, Go forth ye Daughters of Zion, and behold (let this be taken notice of with exceeding Wonder) King Solomon with the Crown wherewith his Mother crowned him, in the Day of bis Efponfals, and in the Day of the Gladness of his Heart, Solom. iii. 2. By King Solomon in thefe Words, Chrift that King of Glory is to be underftood, of whom Solomon was fo great a Type. By his Mother is meant the Church, which may be

fo called, in refpect of his humane Nature, or to fhew the near Relation there is between Chrift and his People; according to what our Lord faith in Mat. xii. 5o. He that does the Will of my Father, the Jame is my Brother, Sifter, and Mother. All which is to fhew the Diverfities of Degrees, and the Diftinction of Orders there will be amongft the Saints in the Kingdom of Chrift. And therefore by his Mother crowning of him is to fignify the Readinefs which will appear in all the Children of God, to fet their Crowns upon the Head of Chrift, by afcribing all the Glory that is due to him. And oh how will the Saints all of them crown the Lord Jefus in that Day of his Efpoufals, or in the Time of this glorious Marriage, by continnal Acclamations of Joy, joining with the bleffed Angels in celebrating the eternal Praife of the King of Zion.

Well then! This doth fhew us that in the Time of the Marriage-Feaft will be the Time of the Coronation, when Crowns of Glory fhall be fet upon the Head both of Chrift and the Saints: And therefore called the Day of his Efpoufals, which will be the Day of the Gladness of his Heart. Now by the Day or Time of his Efpoufals, I understand may be referr'd, Firft, Unto thofe eternal Covenant-Settlements which were betwixt the Father and the Sox on the behalf of his People, for, then did Chrift efpoufe the Elect in a way of Covenant from everlasting. Secondly, When he took upon him our Nature, then did Chrift efpoufe or marry our Nature, into a perfonal Union of the Mediator. Thirdly, When a Soul believes and receives the Lord Jefus Chrift by Faith, then may that Soul be faid fpiritually to be fpoufed or marry'd unto the Lord Jefus, But 4thly,

The

The Time which I humbly conceive that these Words have a peculiar. relation to, is the Kingdom of Chrift, or the open and visible Solemnization of that glorious Marriage before treated of. For then it will be in a more eminent way that the Daughters of Zion, or every true Believer in Chrift, fhall! go forth, not by Faith as now, but by Vifion, becaufe they hall then fee bim as he is. They shall go forth and behold King Solomon, or be that is greater than Solomon. They shall fee him with theCrown wherewith his Mother (the Church) crowned him in the Day, or in that glorious Day, when Chrift and the Saints fhall be efpoufed, married, and united together for ever: And when thefe Crowns of Glory fhall be fet upon each one of their Heads; called a Crown of Righteoufnefs, which fhall be given in that day unto all thofe who love the Appearance of the Lord Jefus. 2 Tim. iv. 8. And when they fhall take all their Crowns, and fet them again upon the Head of Chrift, not only by afcribing all the Glory that is due to him, but in their acknowledging that all this flows down unto them, in a way of infinite Love, free Grace, and divine Favour.

This will be the Time of the Gladness of his Heart, not only of Chrift's, but of every Believer too. Oh the Joy and Gladness which the Heart of the Saints fhall be filled with at this Time, cannot be conceived by us, nor expreffed by the Tongue of Men nor Angels! Now, from what hath been faid it does appear, that when Chrift comes, he will come as a Bridegroom, for to celebrate the Marriage Feaft, or the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, betwixt his Spouse and himself, in the glorious Moun

tain of the Kingdom of Chrift. O what Peace, Joy, and Comfort, fhall the Soul find, by feeding with Chrift, upon thofe rich Provifions, that Marrow and Fatnefs, with Wine on the Lees well refined! Which will plentifully flow in, and be communicated from the Fountain of eternal Goodness, to fill the Children of God with Joy, and eternal Satisfaction for ever. Here will be nothing of Sin, carnal or worldly Pleasure, in all the Time of that wonderful Solemnity. Here will be no Joy, but what is pure, fpiritual, and divine. This Feaft of Marrow and Fatnefs, for the Excellency of it, may be called Angel's Food: That hidden Manna, which none fhall feed upon, but thofe that have received the white Stone, and in the Stone a new Name written, which none will know the Glory of, but they to whom it fhall be communicated. Rev ii. 17.

Ifhall now return again to Ifa. Verfe 7. And he will deftroy in this Mountain, the Face of the Covering caft over all People., and the Veil that is spread over all Nations. Here are three or four things I fhall briefly take notice of. Firft, That in this fame Mountain where the Lord of Hofts will make a Feaft of fat things, full of Marrow, Wines on the Lees well refined, there it is that he will deftroy the Face of covering, and remove the Veil of Darkness from off the Hearts of all the Saints: Which fhews that this will be fuch a Time of Glory upon the Church, as is certain has never yet been feen upon her. Secondly, Thefe Words do fhew what a Face of Covering and a Veil of Darkness Sin hath caft over all Nations, whereby all Perfons are fo involved in Darkness, Blindnefs, and Ignorance of Chrift and his Salvation, as that there is

none
