In the glorious Mountain of Chrift's Kingdom, will the Lord Jehovah make a Feaft of Fat things, full of Marrow, and Wines on the Lees, well refined.

§. 1. By this Mountain, where the Lord will make a Feaft for all People; muft undoubtedly be underfood of the Kingdom of Chrift. 2. Then hall the Saints be filled, and Jatisfied with the overflowing Streams of Divine Goodness. 3. At the time of this Feaff, will be the open and visible Solemnization of the Marriage. 4. The Glory of which was tipically haddowed out, by thofe many Feafts we read of in Levit, xxiii. 5. This will not only be the time of the nuptial Supp r of the Lamb, but the Coronation Day. 6. In this glorious Mountain it is that the Lord will remove the Face of Covering, and deftroy that Veil of Darkness, which is yet upon the Saints.

ΣΑΚ. 6.

Now, however fome the great Myfteries of Gofpel-Grace may be fhadowed out unto us in thefe Expreffions; yet the matter principally ins tended in thefe Verfes, can mean no lefs than a perfect Kingdom Glory of Chrift, to be poffeffed by him and the Saints in the New Jerufalem State, as will further appear in the Confideration of this Prophecy. Therefore after the Deftruction of Antichrift, which is fignified in Words preceding, we have the Kingdom of Chrift fet out by a Feaft of fat things full of Marrow, and Wines on the Lees well refined. In this Mountain fall the Lord of hofts make unto all People a Feast of Fat things, &c. By the Mountain literally, means Zion in Jerufalem, the Place where God promifed his Prefence, which fpiritually was a Tipe of the Church; but the Mountain in thefe Words can refpect no o ther than a visible Glory of the Kingdom of Chrift, in the latter Branch of it, according to what we read in Dan. ii. 35. where Chrift is fet forth by a Stone cut out without Hands, who fhall fmite the Image of the four Monarchies to Pieces, untill they are driven away, as the Chaff of the Summer thresh ing Floor; and then it is, that this Stone will become a great Mountain to fill the whole Earth. And, therefore this must be understood of the Kingdom of Chrift, which is to be fet up, and fucceed in the Room of thefe Monarchies, when deftroyed; for fo it is expreffed in Verfe 44. where we have the Interpretation of the Dream, to fhew how it i agrees

agrees with Verse 35. and in the Days of thefe Kings fall the God of Heaven fet up a Kingdom, which shall never be deftroyed; and the Kingdom fhall not be left to another People, but it shall break in Pieces, and confume all these Kingdoms, and it fhall fand for ever. Doth not thefe Texts evidently prove, that by the Stone Chrift is meant; and by his fmiting the Image, the utter Ruin and Deftruction of the preceding Monarchies is fignified; and that when he hath done fmiting the Image, carrying thefe Monarchies wholly off of the Stage, that then› this. Stone will become a great Mountain, and fill the whole Earth. Which we fee is the fame with the God of Heaven, fetting up a Kingdom that shall never be deftroyed, &c. Well, this is the Mountain then, to wit, the Kingdom of Chrift; where the Lord of Hofts will make unto all People, (that is the believing Gentiles as well as the Jews or all the Children of God, as confifting of both) a Feast of fat things, a feast of Wines on the Lees, of fat things full of Marrow. The Spirit of God is pleafed to make ufe of thefe Expreffions, to fet forth the Greatnefs, Riches, and wonderful Provifions or choiceft Dainties, whereby the Lord will feed, fill and fatisfy his People with in that Day. A Feaft of fat things full of Marrow, that is the beft and choiceft of all thofe things, which Earth or Hea. ven can afford, or the fatisfactory Enjoyment which the Soul fhall find in the Fountain of the eternal Deity. And Wines on the Lees well refined: Wines in the Plural, to fhew the wonderful Plentitude, and Variety thereof. Wines on the Lees, is to fignify fuch Wine that hath food fo lang, until the Lees or Dregs are well fettled to

the

the bottom; when the Wine hath drawn out its full Strength and Vigour unto its felf from the Lees and then drawn out as pure, clear, and clarified Wine. This is Wine on the Lees, or Wines drawn off from the Lees well refined; which is the beft and choiceft Wine; to fhew, that the Lord, at the time of this glorious Feaft, will feed and fatisfy the Saints with the beft of Meat, and Comfort their Hearts with the pureft Wine. This I apprehend to be the fame with that Wine, our Lord told his Difciples (at the Inftitution of his laft Supper) he would drink no more of, with them, until that Day, that is the Day of his fecond coming, and that then be will drink it new in the Kingdom of God. Mark xiv. 25. Wine is not fo fweet to the Tafte, fo comfortable and chearing to the Heart, as the infinite over-flowing Fulnefs of Divine Grace and Love from Jefus Chrift will then be unto the Soul.

Again, and it fall come to pass in that Day, that the Mountains fall drop down new Wine, and the Hills fhall flow with Milk, (nothing fhall be wanting that may compleat the Happiness of the Saints) and all the Rivers of Judah fhall flow with Waters, and a Fountain fhall come forth out of the House of the Lord, and fhall water the Valley of Shittim. Joel. iii. 18. Are not these then the Mountains of Chrift's Kingdom, (as agreeing with the other Words) which fhall abundantly flow with new Wine, eternally to fill, fatisfy, and ravifh the Hearts of the Children of God. By the Hills flowing with Milk, is to fhew, the exceeding Sweetnefs, Comfort, and Delight which will flow in like a mighty Torrent from all Places, to fill and replenish their Souls with Goodnefs.

[blocks in formation]

Befides, here are Rivers of Water Streaming forth from the Throne of God and the Lamb, continually to refresh them, as a watered Garden. By which the infinite Love, Grace, Mercy and Kindness of Jehovah, flowing through Chrift the Mediator, may be fignified. But this is not all, because here is a Fountain hall break forth from the Houfe of the Lord, which can be no other, than the Fountain of Unfathomable: Grace, or the Lord Jefus Chrift, in whom it pleafed the Father all Fulness fhould dwell, (now breaking forth in the Communication of Divine Goodness) for to water the Valley of Shittim. By Shittim we find, in Numb. xxv. I. to be a Place in the Land of Moab, who were bitter Enemies to the Children of Ifrael; and therefore doubtlefs was bad enough for Wickedness: Yet here it is, that a Fountain of Grace and Divine Mercy fhall be opened, and flow in from Chrift, that Fountain of Life, upon them; which certainly refpects their Converfion, and fhews that here will be a wonderful flocking of thefe poor Sinners unto the Lord, in the Day of the Spirit's pouring down: Because that will be the time when this Fountain Shall be opened unto them for cleanfing, at the beginning or firft breaking forth of this Spiritual Glory. But oh what a Feaft will the Lord of Hofts make for all People in this glorious Mountain, when the Lord Jefus Chrift will be perfonally prefent with them? This will be no other than the Nuptial Feaft, that the Glory of Chrift's Kingdom is represented by; and therefore called a MarriageSupper, or the Supper of the Lamb, Rev. xix. 7. Then it fhall be faid (by all the Faithful) Let us be glad and rejoice, and give Honour unto him; (Why? What is the matter?)
