Glory which fhall be manifefted at this time in the Saints, will confpicuoufly appear unto all, that they are the Branch of the Lord's planting, the Work of his ownHands. They fhall then fee how they were, by the Grace of Election, planted or chofen by the Fa ther inChrift, before the Foundation of the World. Eph. i. 4: Then fhall they fee more clearly, how they were planted in Chrift, to be his Wife, Bride and Spouse, by vertue of Covenant Settlements from Everlafting. They fhall then fee how they were planted in Chrift in time, by Regeneration in effectual Calling. They fhall then fee, to their Eternal Wonder and Ravishment of Soul, that this Work of God in Election, Redemption, Juftification, Regeneration, Adoption, Sanctification, and Salva tion; was begun, maintained and carried on, by pure, free, rich, and fovereign Grace. Oh! What a Sight will the Children of God have in that Day, of being the Branch of the Lord's Planting, the Work of his Hands, that he may be glorified! The Children of God will then more openly, vifibly, and gloriously appear, both to themfelves, and others, to be indeed the Branch of the Lord's Right Hand planting, the Work of his own Fin ger, the Operation of his own Spirit, that he may be glorified, and the Lord alone exalted. Here appears nothing of the Creatures, nothing to be attributed unto Man; Free-will, or a Power in us, I will have no Room to play here, nothing to plead of its own, nothing to glory, in, but the Lord and bis Grace. And therefore it is render'd in the Text, that he may be glorified. The Glory of our Salva tion is owing to the Grace of God. All this is," (what he hath done for us, in us, and promised to us ;)

us;) that he may be glorified. And Oh! how do the Saints now, when in the Exercise of Faith, and, in that great Day, will more eminently ascribe, or hang all the Glory upon the Lord Jefus Chrift. There be two things that the Lord hath his eye upon, in all that Work which he hath done and will yet do for his Children; and that is, Firft, His own Glory, or the Manifeftation of his Glory. Secondly, The Good of his People. God hath fo joined the Good of his People and his Glory together, as that they cannot, nor never shall be separated afunder. God, in the Manifeftation of the Glory of his Grace, hath an eye to the Good and eternal Happinefs of the Saints. He is now glorified by them; and in the Glory of Chrift's Kingdom he will be glorified in them. When he shall come to be glorified in the Saints, and admired in all them that believe, 2 Theff. i. 10.

Verse 22. A little one fhall become a Thoufand, and a fmall one a strong Nation: Ithe Lord will haften it in his Time.

This is the laft Verfe of this glorious Chapter, wherein the Glory of Chrift's Kingdom, both in its fpiritual and perfonal Reign, is held forth unto us. In thefe Words we have a further Account given us of the great and wonderful Increase that there will beat this time of Converts, both among the Jews and Gentiles; as is fignified by a little one becoming a Thousand, and a small one a strong Nation. Those that before were few, poor, weak, and little efteemed of, will now become a great Multitude,

incaeafed into Thousands, and of great Power, Glory and Renown. A little one fhall become a Thoufand That is, fuch as before were but few in number, or a fmall Family, fhall now, by the pouring down of the Spirit of God upon them, fo wonderfully increafe and multiply, as to grow into a thoufand Families. The People of God have hitherto been but a few in number, one of a City, and two of à Family, a little Flock, a fmall Remnant, the fewest of all People: But it will not be fo in that Day when this Prophecy has its Accomplishment: They will then appear to be a great Multitude, fuch a Multitude that no Man could number, when they fhall flock out of all Nations, Kindred, Tongues, and People, faying, Come, let us go up to the Mountain of the Lurd, to the Houfe of the God of Jacob; for he will teach us of his Ways, and we will walk in his Patbs.. And many Nations fhall come and fay, Come let us go up, &c. Micah iv 2. It is in the Womb of this glorious Morning, that Chrift will have the Dew of bis Touth. By which an innumerable Company of Converts is fignified, who will come flocking in unto Chrift, as thick as the Drops of the MorningDew. Pf. cx. 3. Then fhall he fee his Seed, the Travel of his Soul, and be fatisfied for all that he has done. He will prolong his Das, and the PledJure of the Lord fhall profper in his Hand. Ifa.liii. 10, 11. And a small one a ftrong Nation. Such as were not only fmall in number, but fmall inStrength and Power, fhall now become great and mighty as a frong Nation: There fhall not one be feeble among the Flock, but all frog in the Grace of Chrift: Then will the Saints be frong in the Lord, and in the Power of his Might; well able to overCome, to go up at once and poffefs the Land. But who H ST

Will

will this be? It followeth, Ithe Lord will haften it in bis Time. This is a gracious Promife of God, who will certainly accomplish what he has promifed; and not only fo, but be will baften the Accomplishment of it; the Lord will haften it in his Time: From whence we may obferve two things; First, That there is an appointed Time, when these and all the Latter Day Promifes and Prophefies fhall be fulfilled; Secondly, When the appointed Time is come, the Lord will fobaften, as not to delay one Moment the Fulfilmenr of his Promife. Both these DoЄtrines are proved in that one Text, Hab. ii. 3. For the Vifion is yet for an appointed Time. This proves the firft Doctrine that the Time is appointed) but at the end it fhall Speak and not lie: (This proves the Certainty of its Fulfilment) Though it tarry, wait for it, (This fhews that there will be need of Faith to believe, and Patience to wait) for it will furely come, (This gives us encouragement to wait, because our believing and waiting fhall not be in vain) it will not tarry; that is, beyond the Time appointed, no not one Moment; for the Lord will baften it in his Time. Thus we see how this proves the fecond Doctrine alfo. He which teftifieth these things (that is the Lord Jefus Chrift) faith, Surely I come quickly. What then can be more certain? For thefe were Chrift's laft parting Words, and fhew, that his Heart and Mind is upon the Time of his Coming. Amen, even fo, come, Lord Jesus! This is, or at least should be, the Echo, Voice, and Defire of all that love the Lord Jefus Chrift in Sincerity. Rev. xxii. 20. Thus I have gone through a brief Expofition of this fixtieth Chapter of Ifaiah because the greateft Part of it hath a relation to the fpiritual Glory of the Church.

CHAP.

CHA P. XIX.

Upon the ending of this Spiritual Glory, the Perfonal Reign and Kingdom of Chrift will take Place.

1. When the Lord Jefus bath reigned by his Spirit in the Saints, he will perfonally come down from Heaven. 2. The perfonal Reign of Chrift, proved from feveral other Texts.

HAV

Aving proved that there will be a fpiritual Glory of Chrift's Kingdom firft (from several Places of Scripture) before his perfonal coming; and cannot be together, at one and the fame time; I fhall in the next Place proceed to fome other Texts, with Relation to the manner of the Kingdom of Chrift in the fecond Branch of it, when he shall perfonally Reign with the Saints upon the new Earth. But I defire that the Reader may rightly underftand me, when I say that the fpiritual Kingdom of Chrift will be firft; beeaufe I do not mean, that when Chrift fhall Perfonally Reign, the Spiritual will be excluded from it: No, for theReign of the Spirit will be more eminent at that time, when the Lord Jefus Chrift as God Man Mediator, will (in all the won derful Eradiation of his Glory) be in the midft of his Saints, for there will appear in that Day, not only the Fulness of the Deity in Chrift, or the Spirit which was poured upon him without Meafure, but all the Children of God fhall be filled then, yea, each one fhall be full of the Spirit in the Perfonal Reign
