cording to thofe Words in Isaiah lxi. 5. Stranger ball fand and feed your Flocks, and the Sons of the Alien fhall be your Plowmen and your Vine-dreffers. Again, here is another thing promifed to them, and that is, their Kings hall minifter unto thee. Thefe Kings are fuch who in this glorious Day fhall be converted unto Jefus Chrift from amongst theGentiles; who fhall willingly ferve the Lord with their Subftance, by miniftring in what they have unto Zion, the Church of God. Then it followeth, For in my Wrath I fmote thee. This does refpect the Wrath of God, which hath lain fo long upon the Jews, for their Sins in rejecting the Lord Fefus Chrift, and Salvation by him. Well! But now the Time of their Reception being come, it is here promised, that tho' I was wroth with thee, and fmote thee with a fore and long Captivity, yet now in my Favour I have mercy on thee. From this we may obferve that when the Lord fhews Kindness unto any Perfon or People, this Kindnefs flows from his free Love, Mercy, and divine Favour. There was no Merit nor Defert in them now, any more than before, that the Lord fhould fhew mercy to them, or to us; therefore it is from his free Grace that any receive of his Kindness.

Verfe 11. Therefore thy Gates fhall be open continually, they shall not be fut Day nor Night, that Men may bring unto thee the Forces of the Gentiles, and that their Kings may be brought,

By the Gates being open is fignified the free Reception and wonderful Flocking in that there will be

be of Converted Sinners out of all Parts and Places unto Zion. By their being open continually is fhewn that this glorious Work of Converfion will continue fome time: Because these Gates are not to be fbut Day nor Night; and alfo to shew that here will be no Fear of Enemies, nor Danger amongst the Saints in Chrift's Kingdom. But this Text is to be referr'd to the Firft Branch of that Spiritual Glory, upon the account that in the new ferufalem, when Chrift fhall perfonally reign, there is to be no Night. Revelations xxi. 25. And the Gates of it fhall not be fut at all by day, for here fhall be no Night there. But in the Spiritual Kingdom there will be Night as well as Day: So that these two Texts do relate, the one to the Spiritual, the other to Chrifl's Perfonal Reigning. By the Forces, Riches, or Wealth of the Gentiles, together with their Kings being brought, is doubtless to fet forth the wonderful Beauty, Excellency, and Glory, which will be feen at this time upon the Saints; nothing fhall be wanting that may render the Church glorious; as is further fignified by these Words fo often expreffed in this Prophecy, that their Kings may be brought, and their Kings shall minifter unto thee; and they shall fuck the Breafts of Kings, &c. Surely then this must be to enhance or to illuftrate the Magnificence of the Glory of Zion in the Latter Day.

Verse 12. For the Nation and Kingdom that will not ferve thee, fhall perish: Tea thofe Nations fhall be utterly wafted,

It does appear from thefe Words that there will be fome Nations and Kingdoms (at this Time of the Spirit's pouring down) that will not be wholly fubjected unto Chrift. And therefore this, with many other Places, doth fhew that there will be a fpiritual Glory upon the Churches; Firft, In order to the Fulfilment of many Scripture Prophecies before Chrift's Perfonal Coming. For can any Perfon reafonably think that in the Time of Chriff's Ferfonal Reign there fhould be then any Nation or Kingdom not fubjected unto Chrift, fo far as to own or acknownowledge him to be be the Lord and King? Surely no, the Word of God being full in the Proof of the contrary. Wherefore the Spiritual and Perfonal Kingdom of Chrift cannot with any Confiftency be together at one and the fame time. But now in the firft Part of that wonderful Glory, which is yet to come, there will be fome not fubjected unto the Lord Jefus, who will ftill continue Enemies to God and his People, as is very plain in this Text. Notwithstanding the Glory fpoken of here, and which will at this time be feen upon Zion, yea and the extroardinary Flockings to the Church of God, out of many Countries, Nations, and Kingdoms, yet all will not be converted, all will not own Chrift for their Lord and Saviour, nor fubmit themfelves unto the Saints. But upon these there will be a visible Appearance of God's Judgments, which will unavoidably fall upon them. For thefe Kingdoms

doms fhall perish, and thofe Nations will be utterly wafted. To this agrees what is expreffed in Zechariab xiv. 17. And it fhall be that whofe will not come up of all the Families of the Earth unto Jerufalem, to worflip the King, the Lord of Hofts, even upon them fhall be no Rain. This will be the Plague wherewith the Lord will fmite the Heathen that come not up to keep the Feast of the Tabernacles, Verse 18.

Verfe 13. The Glory of Lebanon fhall come unto thee, the Fir-tree, the Pine-tree, and the Box together, to beautify the Place of my San&uary, and Iwill make the Place of my Feet glorious.

Lebanon was a Fruitful Place, and abounded with Variety of excellent Trees, especially the Cedar, ufeful for Building; abundance of which was brought from Lebanon in Solomon's Time, for the Building of the Temple. The Spirit of God alluding to this fhews how glorious Zion will be made in that Day, when the Glory of Lebanon fhall be brought into it. Cedar being a Wood of an excellent Lafting Nature, does doubtless fet forth the Duration of Zion's Glory. Wherefore it is faid in Solomon's Song, Chap. i. Ver. 17. The Beams of our Houfe (which is the Church) are of Cedar, and our Rafters of Fir. Well! Here is not only the Cedar but the Fir-tree (which is of the fame Ufe) and the Pine-tree and the Box together. This is alfo promised in Isaiah xli. 19. I will plant in the Wildernefs the Cedar, the Shittah-tree, and the Myrtle, and the Oil-tree: I will fet in the Defart the Fir-tree, and the Pine, and the Bux-tree together. To what end it

followeth, Verse 20. That they may fee, and know, and confider, and underftand together, that the Hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Ifrael bath created it. This will appear to be wholly and altogether the Lord's own Doings, tho' it will indeed be wonderful and marvellous in our Eyes what God will do for his People at this time.

Again, By the Fir, the Pine, and the Box-tree together, may be fignified the Greeness and the Fertility of the Saints. Some of thefe Trees holding their Verdure and Greennefs all the Year long, doth ve ry fitly fet forth the flourishing State of the Church in the Kingdom of Chrift. The Saints fhall not then be dry and barren in their Souls, nor wi thering in their Profeffion as now: But always as the Cedar that is full of Sap, and as the flourishing Fir, Pine, and Box-tree, in the House of the Lord. Well! These shall be brought from Lebanon. What to do? Why to beautify the Place of my Sanctuary. God will have his Church beautified and made glorious, but oh how glorious and beautiful will the Church be, when all the Excellencies of Nature, Grace, and Glory, fhall meet upon her! Here is another thing to be taken notice of, and that is, I will make the Place of my Feet glorious This can be apply'd unto none in thefe Words but the Lord. It is the Lord Jefus Chrift, the Place of whofe Fect is, and will openly appear to be made glorious in that Day. By the Place of his Feet I understand the Place of his Reft, Seat, or Refidence, which is his Church: This is his Reft where he will dwell for ever. This was fhadowed out by the Mercy Seat, in the Time of the Law, which was placed between the Chernbins of Gold, above the Ark, called the Propitiato
