only wade but fwim into the deep things of God, or into the Depths of Divine Grace. Thefe bleffed Waters of the Sanctuary will flow in fo plentifully upon Zion, in the time of her fpiritual Glory, as to reach from the Ancles unto the Knees; yea higher and higher, until they come to a Perfect State, in the perfonal Reign or Kingdom of Chrift; and then it is that they fhall fwim in the River of Eternal Joy. Now that thefe Waters do refpect or hold forth the Graces of the Gofpel, will more fully appear, if we confider, Firft, Its coming out of the Houfe of the Lord, which was a Type of the Church. Secondly, Its proceeding more immediately from or at the South Side of the Altar; which Altar was aType of Chrift; and from whom it is that thefe Waters of Life do flow. Thirdly, Thefe Waters are of a Healing Nature; they heal all Maladies wherefoever they come. Fourthly, It giveth, and not only giveth, but continueth Life, Spiritual and eternal Life, unto all by whom thefe Waters are received.

Well! Thefe Waters, or the plentiful Graces of the Spirit, by the preaching of the everlafting Gofpel, in this Day of Zion's Glory, will iffue forth from the Lord Jefus Chrift, towards the Eaft Country; which may fignifie the Converfion of the Jews: And will go down into the Defart, and into the Sea: This may refpect the Converfion of the Gentile Nations, which being brought into the Sea, the Waters fhall be healed. Verfe 8. And it shall come to pass that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whither foener the Rivers fhall come, ball live: And there fhall be a very great Multitude of Fishes, becaufe thefe Waters fhall come thither: For they shall be bealed, and every thing fhall live whither the River com

etb, Verfe 9. What can these things hold forth to us, as to the Spirituality of the Words, but the wonderful Gathering in and Flocking there will be of poor Sinners unto Jefus Chrift, at that time? For thefe Waters will run into the Eaft Country, and into the Defart Parts of the World; Places that are barren, and deftitute of the Knowledge of Chrift. Then the parched Ground fhall become a Pool, and the thirsty Land Springs of Water. And in the Habitation of Dragons (by which Wicked Men may be fignified) where each lay (or where they lived) there fhall be Grafs with Reeds aud Rushes. Ifa. xxxv.

This fhews that Men, who now are of a Dragon-like Spirit, or that have the poisonous Nature of Dragons in them (as all naturally have) which are for deftroying every thing that is green, being deftitute of all Good themfelves, they did not love to fee it in others: Thefe (as I humbly conceive) will have fuch a Change wrought by the Power of Omnipotent Grace, as will make them become fruitful, green, and flourishing in the things of God; being healed of their poisonous Nature, by the healing Virtue of the Waters of Life: Or elfe, if it doth not refpect their Converfion; if the Glory of the Latter Day hath not this bleffed Effect upon them, in changing of their Hearts; then doubtlefs it muft mean their Deftruction, by being removed out of the World, to give way and make room for the Saints, who fhall fucceed them in the Time of the Kingdom of Chrift. But rather an derfand it (in this Place) in the firft Confideration; because thefe Words do differ from what is expreffed in the Eighth of the Romans, concerning the Reforation of the Creatures, which Words will not allow

a Figurative Senfe to be put upon them, as thefe do. Again these Waters are faid to go into the Sea: The glorious Effect which they had in healing of thofe Waters, I look upon to be the fame (as before) for the abundance of the Sea fhall be converted unto thee. So that the Healing of the Waters in the Sea does refpect the wonderful Converfion there will be amongst thofe wicked and ungodly Sinners. Yea there will be a gathering in (by free and rich Grace) a great multitude of these Filhes unto Jefus Chrift. Our Lord compares the Preachers of the Cofpel unto Fishermen; Follow me (faith Chrift unto the Difciples) and I will make you Fifers of Men. The Gofpel is compared unto a Net, and pcor Sinrers unto Files which are gathered in by the Preaching thereof. Mark i. 17. O what a multitude of these Fishes will there be inclofed in the Net of the Gofpel, when the Spirit fhall be poured down as Water out of his Bucket, and the Lord fhall bid his Servants caft the Net on the Right Side of the Ship! And happy are they who fhall be caught therein. Well! This is fufficient (though many other Places might be inftanced) to fhew what a wonderful Flocking and Gathering there will be of all forts of Sinners (from all Parts and Places of the World, out of all Nations, People, and Tongues) unto Jefus Chrift.

Verfe 9. Surely the Ifles fhall wait for me, and the Ships of Tarfhifh firft, to bring thy Sons from far, their Silver and their Gold with them, unto the Name of the Lord thy God: And to the Holy one of Ifrael, because he hath glorified thee.

Surely the Ifes fhall wait for me. These are the Ifles which the Grace of the Gofpel hath laid hold upon: Who fand ready to ferve the Lord and his People: With the Ships of Tarshish; which doubtlefs mean the Inhabitants of thofe Ifles, and the Merchants of Tarfish; waiting as Servants upon their Mafter, for to bring thefe new Converts along with them unto Zion. Whereas it is faid, the Ships of Tarfish firft, it is to fhew that thefe Merchants of Tarif were the first who will ftand in readiness, waiting for the eSons and Daughters that were come from far Countries, to be carried or transported by thefe Ships unto Jerufalem. Their bringing of Silver and Gold along with them,is to fhew, that they count nothing too dear, whereby they may be useful in ferving of the Lord, for the Good of the Saints. Now that which is laid down as a Motive to induce them to this Readiness of Obedience, is render'd in the laft Part of the Verfe: Because he (that is the Lord Jefus Chrif, called the Holy One of Ifrael) bath glorified thee (that is the Church) in the Discovery of the Glory of divine Grace unto her.

Verfe 10. And the Sons of Strangers fhall build up thy Walls, and their Kings hall minifter unto thee. For in my Wrath I fmote thee, but in my Favour have I mercy on thee.

Thefe Words are a gracious Promife unto Zion, by which the Converted Jews, together with the Gentiles (being now joined with them) are to be understood. The Promife is, that the Sons of the Strangers fhall build up thy Walls. By these Sons of Strangers are meant either fuch as fhall be converted in this Time, out of the Gentile Nations; which out of Love will be ready to ferve them in all things as far as lies in their Power: Or fuch which may not be thoroughly converted, yet will be fo far bowed as to be ferviceable to the Saints: There was fome Hewers of Wood, and Drawers of Water, to wit the Gibeonites, unto Ifrael of old: Some fuch there may be in Chrift's Spiritual Kingdom, which thefe Words have a peculiar relation unto. If the first, then it may be to fhew that thofe who before were Strangers to Chrift and to the Covenant of Promifes, are now made Fellow-Citizens with the Saints, and of the Household of God; fhall then come and build up the cld wafte Places; and raise up the Foundations (which have lain useless) for many Generations; and fhall be called a Repairer of Breaches, and a Reftorer of Paths to dwell in. Ifa. lviii. 12. But if the latter, then it may be understood of thofe Strangers who fhall be fo far changed as to be made fubmiffive unto the Children of God; and fhall be willing to do all things that are needful to be done, or what they are capable of doing for them: According
