the frong Hold of the Daughter of Zion (that is the Lord Jefus, who is the Tower of the Flock, and the only ftrong Hold of the Saints) unto thee fall it come even the First Dominion, the Kingdom fhall come to to the Daughter of Jerufalem. This Kingdom is first to be given by the Father unto Chrift, and from him to the Saints. In Zeph. iii. 8. we read what a terrible Time this will be unto the Wicked and Ungodly; and therefore we are exhorted to wait upon the Lord, until the Day that he shall rise up to the Prey For his Determination is to gather the Nations, and affemble the Kingdom, that he may pour upen them all his Indignation, even his fierce Anger. Because all the Earth (that is the Wicked in the Earth) fhall be devoured with the Fire of his Jealou fy. But inVerfe 9. we have a gracious Promife, For then will I turn to the People a pure Language, that they may call upon the Name of the Lord, to ferve him with one Confent. Then fhall all the Saints speak Canaan's Language, which will be pure, fpiritual, and divine, without any Mixtures of Afhdod. And then all they call upon Ged in the Mediator, that they may ferve him with one Heart, and carry on the Work of the Lord with one Shoulder, as the Word fignifies. Verfe_12. For from beyond the River Ethiopia hall the Lords Supplicants come, even the Daughters of his Difperfed fhall bring the Freemill Offering unto Zion. This will caufe the Laughters of Ifrael to fing and fhout aloud for Joy; yea they fhall be glad and rejoice with their whole Hearts in that Day, even the Daughters of Ferufalem, because the Lord hath removed Trouble far from them, and hath caft out or deftroyed their Enemies; and because the King of Ifrael, Fefus Chrift,

Chrift, that King of Glory, even the Lord Jehovab dwells fenfibly in the midst of them; and therefore they fhall not fee nor fearEvil any more. For in that Day it fhall be faid to Jerufalem, Fear not and to Zion, Let not thy Hand be flack, in doing the Work of the Lord, upon the account that God in the midst of thee, is mighty and all-powerful to fave thee: Yea he hath promifed that he will both fave and rejoice over thee with Foy He will alfo reft in his Love tothee, and will joy over thee with finging, Ver. 14, 15. To this agree thofe Words in Zech. ii. 10. Sing and rejoice, O Daughter of Zion; for lo I come, and will dwell, by the Glory of my Divine Prefence, in the midst of thee. For now it is that I will bring you again (this is a Promise to the Jews) even in the Time that I gather you: For I will make you a Name and a Praife among all the People of the Earth, when Iturn back your Captivity before your Eyes, faith the Lord, verf. 20. In this Time it is that the Lord fhall inherit Fudah his Portion in the in the Holy Land, and fhall yet chufe Ferufalem again. Ver. 11. 12. Then fhall the Inhabitants of one City go to another, faying, Come let us go fpeedily or continually to pray before the Lord of Hofts, and feek his Face; and I will go alfo. Yea, many People, not a few, but a great Multitude, and ftrong Nations fhall come, to feek the Lord of Hofts in ferufalem, and to pray before the Lord. For thus faith the Lord of Hojis, In thofe Days (that the Spirit fhall be poured down from on high) it hall come to pass, that Ten Men fhall take hold of all Languages of the Nations (which refpects the Gentiles) even they shall come and take hold of the Skirt of him that is a few, faying, We will go with you; for

we have heard and believe that God is in the midst of you, Zech. viii. 21, 22. Sure then thefe Prophefies muft relate unto the fpiritual Glory of the Church. When there fhall be upon the Bells of the Horfes Holinefs unto the Lord, and the Pots in the Lord's House fhall be like the Bowls before the Altar: Tea every Pot in Jerufalem and in Judah fhall be Holiness unto the Lord of Hofts. This is to thew that every thing that the Saints fhall be concerned about, whether in Civil or Spirituals, fhall be done with Holiness unto the Lord. Then in that Day there fhall be no more a Canaanite in the Houfe of the Lord of Hofts; because the Righteous fhall be difcerned from the Wicked. Zech. xiv. 20, 21. Malac. iii. 18. Well thus we fee how wonderfully it doth appear, from these many Texts made mention of this Chapter, with the fhort Hints obferved there-from, that there must be (in order to the Fulfilment of the Scripture) a Spiritual Glory upon the Church firft, before Chrift's Perfonal Coming; thefe many Prophefies chiefly or principally relating unto the Firft Part or Branch of Chrift's Kingdom.

CHAP. XIX.

A brief Expofition upon the lx of Ifa. relating unto the Vifible Glory of CHRIST's Kingdom in this World.

§1. The principal Part of this Chapter chiefly ref pects the firf Branch of that fpiritual Glory. 2. Then Zion hall arife and fine forth, in the Light and Beauty of Chrift. 3. This will be a Time when a great multitude both of Jews and Gentiles fhall flock unto the Lord Jefus. 4. Tea many Kings and Great Men fhall be converted in that Day. 5. Al which will bring their Ricbes and Treasures unto Zion. 6. Then the Church will appear glorious, when all the Excellencies of Nature, Grace, and Glory, fhall meet in her. 7. This will be both a Silver and a Golden Age unto the Saints. 8. The 3 or 4 laft Verfes bold forth no less than a perfect State in the Perfonal Reign of Chrift's Kingdom.

OW upon the account that the First Branch of the Kingdom of Chrift, doth fo clearly fhine forth, and is fo wonderfully demonftrated throughout the whole of this Chapter (excepting the three or four laft Verfes, which is to be referred

to

to the latter Branch of that Kingdom) I was the more willing to fpeak fomething to each particular Verfe, and therefore I fhall begin at

Ifa. lx. 1. Arife, fine; for thy Light is come, and the Glory of the Lord is rifen upon thee.

This is Sion, the Church of God, who is called upon to arife. Secondly, It is the Lord that calls upon her to get up and fhew her felf; whofe Call is powerful and efficacious; who will not only bid her rife, but will put Strength into her: Yea he himself will raife her up. 3dly, The Time when The fhall thus arife: And that is, when the Spirit Thall be poured down in fuch a wonderful manner as has been before hinted. When the Spiritual Glory of Chrift's Kingdom fhall begin to break out, then it is that the Saints fhall arife,

an

extraordinary way, and fhine forth in the Glo ry of Chrift. Fourthly, The Reafon or the Occafion of her Rifing is given us in thefe Words, and that is, For thy Light is come, and the Glory of the Lord is rifen upon thee. From whence we may obferve, that when the Light of Divine Grace begins to fhine upon the Heart of a poor Sinner, it will foon make that Soul rife and fine forth in Chrift's Glory; yea it is this Light that will make the fews-arife and hine forth at that time. which this Prophecy hath a relation too; when the Light of free pardoning Grace, through the Blood and Righteoufnefs of Jefus Chrift, begins to Shine upon them. Then in a peculiar or particular refpect it fhall be faid, Arife and fine, for thy Light is come, and the Glory of the Lord is rifen up
