for Converfion to go on after this? Now that Chrift will not defcend from the Right Hand of the Father until the whole Election is brought home to him, I think thefe Words are very full in Pfal. cx. 1. The Lord faid unto my Lord, fit thou at my right Hand; until I make thine Enemies thy Footstool. This is God the Father fpeaking to the Son, and hath a reference to the Time of his Afcenfion, after he had done the Work which the Father gave him to do, in the Accomplishment of our Redemption : Then did the Father in a peculiar refpect fay,Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee, Pfal. ii. 7. Now fit thou at my right Hand (How long?) Until I make thine Enemies thy Footftool: That is, until I bow thofe by my Divine Power, who are now thine Enemies by Nature; and make them thy Friends by Grace; as it is in the 3d Verfe; They shall be a willing People in the Day of thy Power. As for others who are not bowed by Grace, they fhall be bowed by his Judgments. Thus we fee then Chrift will not come from his Father's Right Hand, until thofe who are the Travel of his Soul be reconciled to him by the Application of his Blood. And for the reft of his Enemies, they fhall be fo bowed and fubdued, as to be under Chrift's Feet, and in fubjection unto him: Yet we are not to understand thefe Words fo far, or in fuch an univerfal Senfe, as if there fhould not be one Enemy left to be fubdued or deftroyed, at the time of his defcending from Heaven. No; the Scriptures are full to the contrary, and do fhew that there will be many Enemies deftroyed after his Coming; yea Death, that is the Laft Enemy, will not be totally deftroyed until after Chrift hath reigned, and is ready to deliver up the

Kingdom to the Father: It only fhews us that the Lord Jefus will not come from Heaven until all the Elect are called; and therefore no more Converfion to be expected after Chrift: But feeing fome good Men are of this opinion, I fhall modeftly give my Thoughts upon fome other Texts of Scripture which in my Apprehenfion doth speak quite the contrary. As to this Place in the 110th Pfalm, which I have already mentioned, 'tis very full in the Proof of the Point that Chrift will not come from Heaven until the Elect are all converted: If the Lord Jefus is to fit at the Right Hand of the Father, and not to defcend from thence till his Enes mies are bowed down to his Feet; then certainly none of the Elect fhall be left behind to be bowed by him after his Defcenfion; and therefore they must all be bowed and brought home to Chrift by regenerating Grace, before his perfonal Coming: And if fo, then here can be no Converfion-work go on afterwards.

Again, thofe Words in Ifa. lx. 21. Thy People alSo fhall be all righteous; they fall inherit the Land for ever, &c. is very full in fhewing that there will be no Converfion in the perfonal Reign of Chrift. This whole Chapter is a Prophecy of the Latter Day Glory, the greatest part treating upon the First Branch of Chriff's Kirgdom, in the Time of the Spirit's pouring down; in which there will indeed be a wonderful Converfion: But the 19th, 20th, and 21ft Verfes do undoubtedly hold forth no lefs than a perfectKingdom-State; when the Sun fhall be no more a Light by Day, neither for Brightness fhall the Moon give light to thee. No more need of thefe things then, because the Lord will be an everlafting

lafting Light unto us; and the Days of our Mourn ing fhall be ended; which will not be until the Saints are perfect, free from all Sin: Then they fhall forrow no more at all, but everlasting Foy shall be upon their Heads. This is the Time that thy People fhall be all righteous: This Word Thy People muft certainly take in the whole Elect of God. Well! These fhall be all righteous in the KingdomGlory: And if fo, then here can be no Converfion in this glorious Reign. If the Word Thy People takes in all the Elect, and they at this time are to be all righteous, not fecretly or virtually, as they were confidered in Chrift their Head (for fo they might be faid to be from ever lafting) but now actually or perfonally, openly and vifibly, they will appear to be all righteous: And if they be all righteous, as they will when they fhall inherit the Land, or poffefs their Kingdom; who is it then that shall be converted befides the Elect? Or will any of the reft be converted in the time of this bleffed Kingdom? Sure I think there is none will fay fo: And therefore no Converfion in the Perfonal Reign and Kingdom of Jefus Chrift.

To this agree thofe Words in Jer. xxxi. 34. And they shall teach no more every Man bis Neighbour, and every Man bis Brother, faying, Know the Lord: For they shall all know me, from the leaft of them unto the greateft of them, faith the Lord, &c. This Place I look upon to have a refpect to the perfonal Reign of Chrift; for then there will be no need of teaching or preaching, that Perfons may know or be brought to the Knowledge of God: The Reafon is, Because they fhall all know him, the leaft as well as the greatest of them. This Particle All takes in all the Saints,

all

all the Children of God; the whole Elect are to be understood. Well then! If thefe Words have a reference unto the Kingdom of Chrift, as undeniably appears in this Chapter they have; and that at this time there will be no more Preaching, upon the account that all the Elect will have the Knowledge of God in the Mediator; then here can be no room for Converfion after Chrift defcends from Heaven, to take poffeffion of his Kingdom: Tho' in the firft Branch of that fpiritual Glory there will be Praying, Teaching, and Preaching, that a multitude may be brought to the Knowledge of the Lord Jefus, in which time the whole Elect will be converted and brought home to Chrift, before his Coming from Heaven: And therefore none to be converted after this; and fo confequently no more Teaching, Praying, nor Preaching; all Duties of this nature will in the Thoufand Years Glory be turned into Praises andHallelujahs.

The Truth of this will further appear from thofe Words in Ads iii. v. 21. Whom the Heaven muft receive, until the Times of Reftitution of all things, &c. Here we fee are Times spoken of in the Plural Number, in which it is that all things are to be restored. Now the Firft Time or Beginning of this glorious Reftitution, after Chrift's Afcenfion, when thefe Words were uttered by the Apoftles, I look upon may have fome refpect unto that wonderful Glory which was upon the Saints in the Primitive Church, when Converfion-work went forward both among Jews and Gentiles, and 3000 were converted at one Sermon ; when Difeafes were healed, and they had all things common; which was but as the First Fruits of that bleffed Refloration yet to come.

But

But fecondly, This glorious Time of Reftitution will be when the Promifes and Prophefies of the Latter Day, relating to the Firft Branch of Chrift's Kingdom in its fpiritual Glory, comes to have its Fulfilment by the Gathering in of the whole Election, when the Spirit fhall be poured down in fuch a wonderful manner as to bring a numberlefs Number unto Jefus Chrift, out of all Nations, Kindred, Tongues, and People. But the laft Reftitution or the Reftitution of all things, will not be (as I conceive) until Chrift's perfonal Coming. As the Heaven received him, fo it will retain him, until this Time in which all things fhall be restored. I fuppofe none will fay that Chrift will come from Heaven until this laft Time of the Reftitution; because when he comes he will reftore them into their greatest Beauty, Glory, and Excellency. Well then! If Chrifi does not come from Heaven in his perfonal Glory, until all things are and fhall be reftored, and that in his Coming he will reftore them; then here can be no Converfion go forward after his Coming: For if there fhould, then all things cannot be reftored at that time: If but one Soul fhould be converted after Chrift's Defcenfion from Heaven, then muft he come before the Reftitution of all things; which is quite contrary to this Text, becaufe the Heaven must receive or retain him until then. What tho' this Reftitution of all things takes in the Reftoration of the Creation unto its Paradifical State; yet it is certain that the Bringing in of the Elect by regenerating Grace, and Compleating the whole Myftical Body of Chrift, is the principal Part of that Reftitution, they being principally concerned in it, and for
