Rev. iii. 12. and to him that overcometh (which takes in every Child of God) will I make a Pillar in the Temple of my God, and he shall go no more out (his bleffed State is eternally secured) and I will write upon him the Name of my God (Oh what a Name is that!) New Jerufalem, which cometh down out of Heaven, from my God, and I will write upon him my new Name. How often is this promifed? I will, and I will, three times in these Words; which fhews the Certainty of the Promife: In that Day when Chrift and the Saints fhall appear in Glory. Well! As Chrift's Name fhall be one, fo will the Spouse's Name be one with him, from that Oneness there is betwixt Chrift and bis People. This doth further fhew what an Oneness! What an Agreement! What a Concord! What an Unity there will be at this time, between Chrift and the Saints! Yea betwixt the Saints and one another! From that Oneness and Heartiness of Love, which will run with a free Fountain through every Vein of all the Inhabitants of the New Jerufalem; in that Day when the Lord fhall be King over all the Earth, and there fhall be one Lord, and his Name one.

OW having taken fo many Texts of Scripture out of the Old Teftament, for the Proof of Christ's Spiritual Wifible, and Perfonal Kingdom, in this World; I fhall proceed to a further Confideration of fome in the New. But having had occafion to hint upon feveral of them before, I fhall not be fo large on fome of these.

Luke

Luke xxii. 28, 29. Te are they which have continued with me in my Temptation. And I appoint unto you a Kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me. That ye may eat and drink at Table in my Kingdom, and fit on Thrones, judging the twelve Tribes of If rael.

Thefe are Chrift's Words unto his Difciples, who well knew what a Kingdom there was to be given by the Father, poffeffed and enjoyed by him and the Saints, at the Time appointed: And therefore promiseth in this Text unto (not only) his Difciples then prefent, but all that have, or fhould follow and continue with him in hisTemptation, that he hath appointed unto them a Kingdom, as theFather had appointed unto him. Now what a Kingdom can we fuppofe this to be, which the Father hath appointed unto Chrift, and Chrift hath appointed for the Saints? It is moft certain that this cannot be understood of the Grace of Chrift within us, nor of the Difpenfation under the Gospel. Because our Lord plainly diftinguisheth betwixt the Time of this Kingdom, and the Time of Temptation; to fhew that this Kingdom is not to be given unto the Saints, until the Time of Temptation is ended; and therefore promifed unto them, for their Encouragement, to continue with him in his or their Tmptation.

Secondly, Neither can this be meant of the Kingdom in the eternal Heavens, appears very plain alfo; because they will not then fit upon the Thrones, tojudge the twelve Tribes of Ifrael. There will be no judging of any Perfons in Heaven: No Thrones or Seats of Judgment to be fet up for the Saints, at that time. I think there is none that will

or dare fay fo. Well! Seeing that this Kingdom cannot with any Shew of Reafon be apply'd nei ther to a Kingdom of Grace under the Gofpel, nor to a State in the Ultimate Glory; but will be a Kingdom diftinct, in refpect of the Time and Manner of it, from both: Then the Kingdom here promised, and that which the Saints are yet to take poffeffion of, muft begin at the Time of Chrift's perfonal Coming from Heaven; which will continue until the Lord Jefus fhall have delivered up the Kingdom to the Father, after the Laft Judgment is ended. And therefore this glorious State will be in this World, not as it is now, but when it fhall be changed. This is called Chrift's Kingdom, as appointed unto him and the Saints by the Father. Well! I appoint unto you a Kingdom, faith Chrift And again, That ye may eat and drink at my Table in my Kingdom. Oh what a Table will the Lord fpread for the Saints at this time, upon which will meet all the Dainties and Varieties that Heaven and Earth can afford; yea, that God in the Mediator can give or beftow upon his Children; which will yield infinite Happinefs, Delight, and eternal Satisfaction, unto all thofe that fhall be counted worthy to fit with Cbrift at bis Table in his Kingdom. Whether thefe Words Eating and Drinking are to be understood properly or figuratively I fhall leave to Men of better Judgments: Yet there be fome that take them fo. because Chrift after his Refurrection did eat with bis Difciples; and in Luke xiv. 15. our Lord is fhewing what a Recompence there fhall be given at theRefurrection of the Juft, to fuch who had been charitable to the poor Saints; one makes answer and

faith, Bleffed is be that fhall eat Bread in the Kingdom of God. Again, thofe Words do give a look this way, where our Lord faith that he would drink no more of the Fruit of the Vine, until the Day that he would drink it new in the Kingdom of God. But let this be how it will, it is enough for me that the Glory of a Visible Kingdom of Chrift is held forth in this Text.

See again in Luke xx. 35, 26. But they which fhall be accounted worthy to btain that World, and the Refurrection from the Dead, neither marry nor are given in Marriage: Neither can they die any more; for they are equal unto the Angels, and are the Children of God, being the Children of the Refurrection. Thefe Words are an Answer of Chrift unto that Objection made by the Sadducees against the Refurre&ion; which was, How a Man fhould know his own Wife at that time, when fome of them have had several Huflands. Our Lord tells them that they erred, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the Power of God: For in the Refurrection there would be no fuch thing as marrying and giving in marriage; because they fhould be equal to the Angels in refpect of Spirituality; tho' under fome Confiderations they fhall exceed the Angels in Glory. But in this they may be faid to be equal, because they will have no more need of marrying than the Angels in Heaven have. For they which fall be accounted worthy to obtain that World and the Refurrection from the Dead, neither marry nor are given in Marriage, &c. I fhall obferve from thefe Words; Firft, That here will be fome accounted worthy to obtain that World and the Refurrection from the Dead. This appears very plain in the Text, See Luke xxi. 36. There we are
