all this, for be (that is, the Lord Fesus Christ, this

God) cometh, for be cometh ; (twice expressed, to é ihew the Certainty of it) but what does he cone

for? To judge the Earth; be flsall judge the World s with Righteousness, and the People with his Truth;

Pfalm xcvi. 10, 11, 12, 13. How full is the Nem Testament for the Proof of this, Mark xiii 26. And then shall they see the Son of Man Coming in the

Clouds with great Power and Glory. Yea, Matthew, - Mark, Luke, and John, they all speak of it. Rev.

i. 7. Behold be cometh in the Clouds, and every Eye

hall see him. This is the Person that the Spirit fi of God directs us to look unto, both in the old

and New Testament; this is the Lord thy God that el fhall come, and all the Saints with himi; that is, with

Fesus Chrift. This brings me to the second Particular.

Secondly, Who they be that shall come with himand that is, all the Saints. It is true, the Angels shall come along with Christ at that Time; as it is in 2 Ep. of Thell, ii. 7. But they are not made mention of in this place, to sew that his Coming is upon the Account, and for the Glory of his People. Well then! It is the Saints, the Children of God, thạt fhall come with him, not some of them, but all, as it is in the Text;. The Lord thy God sball come, and all the Saints with thee, Not one will be left behind, but they shall all come with him, all that are interested in Chrift, all that have a part in the first Resurrection, not only those that are dead, or pleep in Jesus, Mall God bring with him, but the living Saints too, such that shall be found alive when Chrift cometh, they Thall be changed in a Moment, in the Twinkling

of of an Eye. Behold, I miero you a Mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed in a Moment, &c. Then the Dead Mall be raised incorruptible, and we (that are living) shall be changed. The same we find in 1 Thef.iv. 15. For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, therefore most certainly true) that we which are alive, and remain unto the Coming of the Lord, mall not prevent (or hinder) them which are asleep (How doth this appear') it followeth, for the Lord himself Mall descend from Heaven with a Shout, with the Voice of the Archangel, and with the Trump of God, and the Dead in Christ shall rise first. In these Words we may observe, 1. That the Lord Jesus will come himself, not a Deputy in his room. 2. He will come with a Shout so loud as will be heard all the World over, yea and those that are in the Grave, or at the Bottom of the Sea, and have been there for hundreds or thousands of Years, shall hear it, and come forth : The same is signified by the Voice of the Archangel, and the Trump of God. 3. The Dead in Christ shall rise first: That is, the rising of the one, and the changing of the other, will be, be

fore the wicked rise, for there is no mention • made of their rising at this Time in neither of

these two Texts. But to come to the 16th Verse, Then we which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together with them (that are raised) in the Clouds to meet the Lord in the Air, and so hall we ever be with the Lord; never shall Christ and the Saints part, after this blessed Meeting. Christ is said to come in the Clouds, there it is that the Saints shall meet him, both the Dead raised, and the Living changed. They shall be caught up together in the Clouds. What to do? To stay with Christ in the Clouds, do we think? Surely no. But that they may come along with him, according to this Text: Then when all the Saints are gathered together, and the whole mystical Body of Christ is compleated; then it is that they shall be all caught up in the Clouds to meet the Lord in the Air ; not to continue, but to come along with him. And so the Words will be fulfilled in the largest Extent that they can be taken in; And the Lord thy God shall come, and all the Saints with thee.

Thirdly, From whence it is that Christ will come, and that is from Heaven; I mean in Respect of that place which we call Heaven, that is, the Imperial Heaven, and in the Scripture is called the third Heaven; otherwise he will not come from Heaven, because he brings Heaven alone with him; yea, it is his glorious Presence that makes Heaven, and where Christ is in his Glory, there Heaven may be said to be. Now that Chrift, when he comes in the Clouds with Power and great Glory, will come from Heaven under the first Consideration, is very clear from many Scriptures : Į shall mention but two, and so pass on; Als iii. 20, 21. And he shall rend Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you : whom the Heaven must receive ... until the Times of Reflitution of all Things, which

God hath Spoken by the Mouth of all his holy Pro"I phets since the World began. There I shall observe

that Christ will not come again in Person, until he is sent by the Father, but at the Time which the Father hath appointed, he hall send him. And from whence will he send him ? Why, from Heaven, where he now is in his Personal Glory therefore the Heavens must receive him until then,

whom the Heaven must receive. They did receive him at his Ascension, after he had compleated the Work of our Redemption : But how long must they receive, or retain him? Until the Times of the Reftia tution of all Things, until that Time, and no longer; then it is that he will come from Heaver. Again, Matt. xxiv. 30. And then thall appear the Sign of the Son of Man in Heaven. Then, or immediately upon his Coming, will appear the Sign of the Son of Man in Heaven, the Place from whence he is to come. What this Sign will be, whether the Wrath of God, which shall at that Time be revealed from Heaven, against all Ungodliness ; Or the Fire and Conflagration of the last Day, which will appear in the Heavens; I fhall not determine: It follows then; shall the Tribes of the Earth mourn; that is, all the wicked that shall be found living upon the Earth at that Time? And they Ihall see the Son of Man coming in the Clouds with Power and great Glory. His Coming in the Clouds does shew that he will come from Heaven. Thus we see then the place from whence it is that Chrift will come. But, .

Fourthly, The Place where he will come, and that is upon this Earth. Zech. xiv. 4. And his Feet fall stand in that Day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the East, &c. His Feet, that is, Christ's Feet: None can deny but that this

in th

Secondly, The Time when his Feet is to stand upon Mount Olives; it is, in that Day; not the Day of his first, but at the Time of his second Coming; which does sufficiently appear from the wonderful Effects that are to follow, at the Time of his Feet standing there. It is to be in that Day, that great and glorious Day, in which such great and wonderful Things are to be done ; in that Day: which the Spirit of God points out unto us in a way of Eminency, or Peculiarity, to be diftinguished from all other Days : In that Day (when Chrift fall come to destroy bis Enemies, as in Verfe 3, and fet up his Kingdom, as in Verse 9,) that his Feet. Ihall stand upon the Mount of Olives. Now where is this Mount that Christ in that Day will stand upon? It is not in Heaven, nor yet in the Air, but before Jerusalem, in the Land of Promise, and therefore upon this Earth. Again in Foel iii. 2. I will also gather all Nations, and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat: and will plead with them there, for my People, and for my Heritage Israel. And the 12th Verse, Let the Heathen be awakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; for there will I fit to judge all the Heathen round about. In these Words, I shall observe, First, That this Persos i nal Appellation I is to be understood of God him . self, or God in the Mediator, it is the Lord that speaks here by the Prophet, I will gather all Nations, 8c.

2dly, All Nations, and the Heathen, does respect all Sorts of Persons, both those that have lived under the Gospel, and those who have never heard of it. All sorts of People, in what Part or Age of the World soever it was that they lived, muft all come down to the Valley of Fehofhaphat. .

adly, The Reason why the Heathen mustawake, and come up to this Valley, is, because there the Lord Jesus Christ will fit to judge the Heathen, with all Nations round about. .
