man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?" 35 Then Jesus said unto them, " But a little time longer, the light will be among you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in 36 darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be sons of light." These things Jesus spake, and departed, and concealed himself from them.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, 38 yet they believed not in him so that the words of the

prophet Isaiah were fulfilled, which he spake, saying, "Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom 39 hath the arm of the Lord been made manifest?" Therefore they could not believe*, because Isaiah hath said 40 again, "He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; so that they see not with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and turn, that I should heal 41 them." These things Isaiah said, when he saw his 42 glory, and spake of him. Nevertheless many even among the rulers believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be 43 put out of the synagogue: for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 But Jesus cried out, and said, "He who believeth in 45 me, believeth not in me, but in him who sent me. And
