If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful; he cannot deny himself.

Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord, that they ftrive not about words, to no profit, but to the fubverting of the hearers.

Study to fhew thy felf approv'd unto God, a workman that needeth not to be afhamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

But fhun profane and vain bablings; for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

V. 22----26.

Flee alfo youthful lufts: but follow righteouf nefs, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender ftrifes.

And the fervant of the Lord must not ftrive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient.

In meekness inftructing those that oppose themfelves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.

And that they may recover themselves out of the fnare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

I charge thee before God and the Lord Jefus Christ, who fhall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing, and his kingdom:

Preach the word, be inftant in season, out of feafon; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long fuffering and doctrine.

For the time will come, when they will not endure found doctrine; but after their own lufts fhall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching

The FIRST ARTICLE,
Of Faith in the Holy Trinity.

HERE is but one living and true God, everlafting, without body, parts, or paffions; of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness, the maker and preferver of all things both visible and invifible. And in Unity of this Godhead there be three perfons of one fubftance, power, and eternity; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghoft.

This Article contains Eight Propofitions.
