“ thee, that thy faith fail not :* and when thou " art converted, strengthen thy brethren." And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee both into prison, and to death. And he said, “ I tell thee, Peter, That this day, even " in this night, before the cock crow twice, « thou shalt deny me thrice.” But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
And he said unto them, “ When I sent you “ without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked “ ye any thing?” And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, “ But now, he that “ hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise “ his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him “ sell his garment, and buy one. For I say “ unto you, That this that is written" must yet “ be accomplished in me: And he was reckoned " among the transgressors : for the things con“ cerning me have an end.” And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, “ It is enough.”

St. Mark says twice because he wrote his gospel for the iise of the converts at Rome, where the reckoning was by two cock crowings, at midnight and at three in the morning; but the Jews reckoned only by one cock-crowing, which was the latter.
In time of danger prudent men will provide every means for their safety.

125. Jesus institutes the eating of bread, and
drinking of wine, in remembrance of his body crucified.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, “ Take, eat: this is my “ body, which is given for you: this do in 66 remembrance of me.”
And he took the cup after supper, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “ Drink 6 ye all of it; for this is my blood of the new “ testament, which is shed for many for the “ remission of sins.
• Verily I say unto you, I will not drink “ henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that “ day when I drink it new with you in my “ Father's kingdom.” And they all drank of įt.
126. Jesus comforts his disciples. [AND Jesus said,] “ Let not your heart be “ troubled : ye believe in God, believe also in “ me. In my Father's house are many mạn, “ sions: if it were not so, I would have told “ you. I go to prepare a place for you. And “ if I go and prepare a place for you, I will “ come again, and receive you unto myself ; " that where I am, there ye may be also. “ And whither I go ye know, and the way ye 66 know.”
a This is the last time that this supper shall be a represenlation of the passover. It shall henceforward take a new signification, and after my death and resurrection be the memorial of a more noble sacrifice, even the redemption that shall be wrought by me.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we knuw the way? Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, " and the truth, and the life: no man cometh " unto the Father, but by me.
