Ps. Have mercy upon me O Lord, for I am weak ; O Lord heal me, for my bones are wearied.

Lead me O Lord in thy righteousness, because of mine enemies make thy way strait before my face.

Be not far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none to help.

St. Paul. O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Ps. Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hid from thee.

Forsake me not O Lord; O my God be not far from

me.

Make haste to help me O my God, my salvation.

My tears have been my meat day and night, while they daily say unto me, where is now thy God?

Why art thou so cast down O my soul, and why art thou so disquieted within me? Hope thou in God, for I will yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance and my God..

Give us help from trouble, for vain is the help of man. Deliver me out of the mire and let me not sink; let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it; deliver me because of mine enemies.

In all the foregoing passages, let us pray against our spiritual fes, against Satan and his artifices, and all the temptations of the flesh and the world.

Ps. But I am poor and sorrowful, let thy salvation set me on high.

My flesh and my heart faileth, but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.

O remember not against us former iniquities; let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us, for we are brought very low.

Bow down thine ear; O Lord hear me, for I am poor and needy.

My heart is smitten within me, and withered like grass, so that I forget to eat my bread.

For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with tears.

I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded with-in me.

My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh faileth of fatness.

1 Chron. xxix 15. O God we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth, are as a shadow; there is none abiding.

The following prayer is suitable when we behold trials and temptations moving towards us, and threatening to overwhelm us.

O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do, but our eyes upon thee.

Daniel. O Lord hear, O Lord forgive, O Lord hear ken and do, delay not for thine own sake, O my God.

Baruch ii 12. Lord our God, we have sinned, we have done unrighteously, we have dealt ungodly in all thine ordinances.

Lord look down from thine holy house and consider us, bow down thine ear and hear us.

The soul that is greatly vexed, that gocth stooping and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul, will give thee praise and righteousness O Lord.

O Lord, Almighty God of Israel, the soul in anguish, the troubled spirit crieth unto thee.

Hear O Lord, and have mercy, for thou art merciful, have pity upon us, for we have sinned against thee.

Sorrow for sin.

Ps. xii 3. How long shall I take council in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily.

Rom. ix 2. I have continual sorrow in my heart.

Ps. I am poor and sorrowful, let thy salvation set me on high.

Mine iniquities are as a heavy burthen.,

My soul melteth for heaviness.

Job xvi 20. Mine eye poureth out tears unto God. Jer. ix 1. O that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of waters.

Prayers for grace and strength to withstand temptation, and to establish us in righteousness.

Ps. Hold thou up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins, lest they have dominion over me.

Lead me in thy truth and teach me, for thou art the God of my salvation, on thee do I wait all the day long. Order thou my steps in thy word, and let not any iniquity have dominion over us.

Set a watch O Lord before my mouth, and keep the door of my lips.

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity.

Be pleased O Lord to deliver me.

Bow down thine ear and deliver me speedily.

Prayers for such as desire to walk in God's commandments, to be instructed in his laws, and to do his will.

Ps. Shew me thy ways O Lord, and teach me thy paths.

Lead me in thy truth and teach me; for thou art the Ged of my salvation, on thec do I wait all the day long. Search me O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts.

And see if there be any wicked way in me.

St. Paul. O the depths of the riches both of the knowledge and wisdom of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out.

Ps. Thou wilt guide me with thy council, and afterwards receive me into glory.

With my whole heart have I sought thee; O let me not wander from thy commandments.

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wond 'rous things out of thy law.

My soul breaketh for the longing it hath at all times unto thy judgments.

Thy testimonies also, are my delight and my coun、 sellors.

Remove far from me the way of lying, and grant me thy law graciously.

Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes, and I shall keep it unto the end.

Give me understanding and I will keep thy law, yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

Quicken me after thy loving kindness, so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

O how I love thy law, it is my meditation all the day. Thy law is a light unto my feet, and a lamp unto my faith.

I hate vain thoughts, but thy law do I love.

Order my steps in thy word, and let not any iniquity have dominion over us.

I cried unto thee, save me and I will keep thy com mandments.

I prevented the dawning of the morning and cried I hoped in thy word.

Mine eyes prevented the night watches, that I might meditate on thy word.

I hate and abhor lying, but thy law do I love.
