All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer believ ing, ye shall receive.

Hebrews xii 22. “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith."

xi 6. "He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him."

James i. 6. Ask in faith, nothing wavering."

John xv. 7. "If ye abide in me, my words will abide in you; ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

Prayer must be frequent, fervent and importunate.

Ps. v 3. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Ps. Evening, morning and at noon will I pray and cry aloud, and he shall hear my voice.

Ps. Be merciful unto me. O God, for I have cried daily unto thee.

O Lord God of my salvation, I have cried night and day unto thee.

Unto thee have I cried O Lord, O Lord in the morning shall my prayer present thee.

Seven times a day do I praise thee, said David.

Daniel kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks.

Mat. xxvi 41. Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.

Luke ii 37. Anna served God with fastings and prayers, night and day.

v 33. The disciples of John fast often, and make prayers.

vi 12. Jesus continued all night in prayer to God. xviii 1. Jesus spake a parable that men ought always to pray and not to faint.

Col. iv 2. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same. 1 Thes. iii 10. Night and day praying exceedingly. Hebrews v 7. In the days of his flesh Christ offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears, and was heard.

Hesekiah prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

Thus saith the Lord to Hesekiah, I have seen thy tears, I have heard thy prayers, behold I will heal thee.

They shall come unto me saith the Lord, with weeping and supplications, and I will lead them, and cause them to walk in a straight way.

Ps. Serve the Lord with gladness.

How we are to pray, and for what things we are to pray.

Eclus. v 2. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God, for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth; therefore let thy words be few.

Mat. vi 7. Use not vain repetitions as the heathens do.

After this manner pray ye. Our Father who art in

heaven.

Proverbs. If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth

not.

Mat. vi 33. Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.

Luke ix 13. If ye know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy spirit to them that ask it.

1 Corin. xii 31. Covet earnestly the best gifts.

xiv 1. Desire spiritual gifts.

If we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.

James iv 3. Ye ask and receive not, because yé ask. amiss, to consume it on your lusts.

Intercessory prayers, or prayers for others.

Tim. ii 1. I exhort that supplications, prayers and intercessions, and giving thanks, be made for all men. Ps. cxxii 6. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; they that love thee shall prosper.

Mat. ix 38. Pray ye the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth more laborers into his harvest.

Eph. vi 18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication, for all saints.

James v 16. Pray one for another.

1 John v 6. Pray for a brother that sinneth.

We must pray for our enemies.

Jer. xxix 7. Seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives; pray unto the Lord for it.

Mat. v 44. Pray for them that dispitefully use you and persecute you

vi 14. For if you forgive men their tresspasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

vi 15. But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Instances of such prayers.

Jesus upon the cross prayed for his persecutors, saying, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Acts vii 60. Stephen prayed for them that put him to death, "Lord lay'not this sin to their charge.”.

Ps. xxxv. David prayed for his foes.

False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

They rewarded me evil for good, to the great discomfort of my soul.

Nevertheless, when they were sick I put on sackcloth and humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer shall turn into mine own bosom.

I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brothey.

I went heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

God heareth the prayer of the poor, the meek and the humble.

Ps. xxxiv 6. This poor man cried, the Lord heard and delivered him out of all his distresses.

Job xxxiv 28. God heareth the cry of the afflicted. James v 13. Is any among you afflicted, let him pray. Ps. xxxiv 15. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their crics.

Ps. God forgeteth not the cry of the humble.

Isaih lvii 15. Thus saith the Lord, I dwell with him that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Ixvi 2. To this man will I look, even to him that is poor, and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word..

Passages addressed to the wicked, to the prayerless and the unconverted.

Job xxi 15. The wicked say what is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit have we if we pray unto him.
