For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth his love toward us : in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us :

Much more then, being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him.

HYMN LXVIII.

Twenty-fifth Sunday after Trinity.

1 Hebrews viii. 8. 10-12. 2 2 Corinthians vi. 18.

' Behold the days come, saith the LORD: when I will make a new covenant,

With the house of Israel : and with the house of Judah.

:

I will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts :

:

And I will be to them a God and they shall be to me a people;

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour and every man his brother, for all shall

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

2

And I will be a Father unto them and they shall be my sons and daughters, saith the LORD Almighty.

HYMN LXIX.

Saint Andrew's Day.

1 Ecclesiasticus xlii. 15. 4 Ecclesiasticus xliii. 5, 6. 9, 10.

2 Ibid. xliii. 28.

3 Ibid. xlii. 16.

5 Ibid. xlii. 23. 17.

Let us now remember the works of the LORD and declare the things that we have

seen.

:

2 How shall we be able to magnify Him: for He is great above all his works.

3 The sun that giveth light looketh upon all things and the work thereof is full of the glory of the LORD:

:

4 Great is the LORD that made it and at his commandment it runneth hastily.

He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world:

The beauty of heaven, the glory of the stars : an ornament giving light in the highest places of the LORD.

At the commandment of the Holy One they will stand in their order : and never faint in their watches.

5 All these live and remain for ever for all uses and they are all obedient.

;

The LORD hath not given power to his saints to declare all his marvellous works : That whatsoever is : might be established for his glory.

HYMN LXX.

Saint Thomas the Apostle.

O LORD, thou canst be troubled with the feeling of our infirmities:

:

Thou hast pity upon our weakness and dost not turn our unworthiness away.

O LORD, we cannot see thee: but thou art not far from every one of us :

For where two or three are met together in thy name there art Thou in the midst of them.

Do Thou increase our faith: that we may know Thee in thine ordinances;

LORD, we believe help thou our unbelief.

HYMN LXXI.

The Conversion of Saint Paul.

1 Acts ix. 15. 2 2 Timothy iv. 8.

O LORD, mighty is thine arm and strong is the right hand of thy power.

Thou bowest thine enemies unto the dust: and they cannot stand before thee.

Thou sayest to the waves of the sea: Hitherto shall ye go, and no further.

Thou didst meet with Saul the persecutor when he lifted his hand against thy church:

The exceeding brightness of thy presence: struck him down to the ground with fear.

But Thou didst not smite in vengeance : thou woundedst that thou mightest heal him. The eyes of his flesh were blinded : but

Thou revealedst to him the things of the Spirit.

1 He was a chosen vessel unto Thee: to bear thy name before the Gentiles.

He counted his life not dear unto him: so that he might finish his course with joy;

2 There is laid up for him a crown of righteousness: which Thou the righteous Judge shalt give him at that day :

And not to him only: but unto all them also that love Thine appearing.

O LORD, mighty is thy Spirit: and strong is the right hand of thy grace.

HYMN LXXII.

The Purification of St. Mary the Virgin. Haggai ii. 9.

LORD, we have loved the habitation of thine house and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

There Thou dwellest between the Cherubims in thy most holy place.

:

There Thou spakest with thy people : and filledst thy priests with gladness.
