This was he whom we had sometimes in derision : and a proverb of reproach.

We fools accounted his life madness: and his end to be without honour;

:

How is he numbered among the children of God and his lot is among the saints! The righteous shall receive a glorious kingdom and a beautiful crown from the LORD'S

:

hand;

For with his right hand shall he cover them and with his arm shall he protect them.

HYMN XXXIII.

The First Sunday after Easter.

1 Colossians ii. 6, 7. 12. 2 Colossians iii. 1-4.

1 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord: so walk ye in him;

Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith as ye have been taught: abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Buried with him in baptism: wherein also ye are risen with him

Through the faith of the operation of God: who hath raised him from the dead.

E

2 If ye then be risen with Christ : seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above not on things on the earth.

For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ who is our life shall appear then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

HYMN XXXIV.

Second Sunday after Easter.

Colossians i. 12-17.

Let us give thanks unto the Father: who hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness: and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son;

In whom we have redemption through his blood: even the forgiveness of sins;

Who is the image of the invisible God: the first born of every creature;

For by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth;

Visible and invisible: whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers;

All things were created: by him and for him.

And he is before all things and by him all things consist.

HYMN XXXV.

The Third Sunday after Easter.

Exodus xv. 2. 6. 11. 13. 17.

The LORD is my strength and song: and he is become my salvation:

He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation my father's God, and I will exalt him.

:

Thy right hand, O LORD is become glorious in power;

Thy right hand, O LORD: hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

Who is like unto thee: O LORD, among the gods;

Glorious in holiness: fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed;

Thou hast guided them in thy strength: unto thy holy habitation.

Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them : in the mountain of thine inheritance;

In the place, O LORD: which thou hast made for thee to dwell in.

In the sanctuary, O LORD: which thine hands have established.

The LORD shall reign: for ever and ever.

HYMN XXXVI.

The Fourth Sunday after Easter.

Acts iv. 24-30.

LORD, thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth

them is :

the sea, and all that in

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said: Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

The kings of the earth stood up and the rulers were gathered together,

Against the LORD: and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus: whom thou hast anointed;

Both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel : were gathered together,

For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

:

And now, LORD, behold their threatenings and grant unto thy servants,

That with all boldness they may speak thy word by stretching forth thine hand to heal ;

And that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

HYMN XXXVII.

The Fifth Sunday after Easter.

1 Samuel ii. 1-3. 6—10.

My heart rejoiceth in the LORD: mine horn is exalted in the LORD;
