this life, that he may be entitled to be assisted by this Sodality with all the suffrages, usually offered up for departed members.

Given in the same Sodality of the Virgin Mother of God, on the day and in the year mentioned above. Director,

Secretary,

Prefect..........

Solemn Reception.

The Veni Creator is entoned by the Celebrant and continued by the Choir.

Veni Creator Spiritus
Mentes tuorum visita,
Imple superna gratia,
Quæ tu creasti pectora.

Qui diceris Paraclitus,
Altissimi donum Dei,
Fons vivus, ignis, charitas,
Et spiritalis unctio.

Tu septiformis munere,
Digitus Paternæ dexteræ,
Tu rite promissum Patris,
Sermone ditans guttura.

Accende lumen sensibus,
Infunde amorem cordibus,
Infirma nostri corporis
Virtute firmans perpeti.

Hostem repellas longius,
Pacemque dones protinus ;
Ductore sic te prævio

Vitemus omne noxium.

Per te sciamus da Patrem,
Noscamus atque Filium,
Teque utriusque Spiritum
Credamus omni tempore.

Deo Patri sit gloria,
Et Filio, qui a mortuis
Surrexit, ac Paraclito,
In sæculorum sæcula.

Amen.

Come, O Creator, Spirit blessed!
And in our souls take up thy rest;
Come, with thy grace and heavenly aid,
To fill the hearts which thou hast made.
Great Paraclete ! to thee we cry ;
O highest gift of God most high!
O fount of life! O fire of love!
And sweet anointing from above!
Thou in thy seven-fold gifts art known;
The finger of God's hand we own;
The promise of the Father thou!
Who dost the tongue with pow'r endow.

Kindle our senses from above,

And make our hearts o'erflow with love!
With patience firm, and virtue high,
The weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us thy true peace instead
So shall we not, with thee for guide,
Turn from the path of life aside.
Oh, may thy grace on us bestow,
The Father and the Son to know,
And thee through endless times confessed
Of both th'eternal Spirit blessed.

All glory while the ages run

Be to the Father, and the Son

Who rose from death; the same to thee,

O Holy Ghost, eternally.

Amen.

Let the Medals be sprinkled with Holy Water.

Then the Secretary calls forward the candidates in the following words :

For the greater praise and glory of the most Holy Trinity, for the honour of the most Blessed Virgin Mary, conceived without sin, our Mother and our Patron, for the increase of our Sodality, let those persons who wish to be admitted Sodalists come forward.

When at the rails, the Prefect presents them to the Celebrant, saying:

Reverend Father, our brothers (sisters) here ardently desiring to see increase in themselves and in others the devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, earnestly entreat of you to admit them into our Sodality.

The Celebrant, then, either reads for the candidates the Act of Consecration, p. 219, in such a manner that they may repeat the words after him, or allows them to recite it themselves. When the Act of Consecration has been recited, he gives a medal, already blessed, to each candidate, saying:

Accipe signum Congregationis B. M. V. ad corporis et animæ defensionem, ut divinae bonitatis gratia, et ope Mariæ Matris tuæ æternam beatitudinem consequi merearis: in nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.

While the Celebrant is giving the medals, if time permits it, the choir chants the "Ave Maris Stella," or some other Hymn in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Then he adds, standing on the altar, and turned towards the new Sodalists :

Amen.
