LMIGHTY GOD, our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou hast taught us to call Thee "Father." In the strength of Thy name we go forth to meet the temptations and the duties of this day. May we be worthy of being called Thy children. May we have Thy patience and tenderness in our dealing with others, especially with the members of our own household. May we have pity for all weak and tempted persons, and lend them our strength, as Thou dost lend Thy strength to us. Clothe us this day with armor of light. May we have Thy purity, Thy horror of all evil thoughts and all unholy desires, and may they be overcome and cast out of our hearts by a passion for holiness. Whatever we have to do, may we do it so that it shall be well-pleasing to Thee. Help us to adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. Preserve us in all danger, keep us in the ways of life, and bring us at last to our Father's house in peace. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

O

GOD, our Father, as we come to Thee at the beginning of the new day, may our hearts be open to receive the gift of Thy spirit for which we pray. Grant that we may not be unresponsive to the promptings of Thy spirit, but that we may go through all the manifold duties and tasks of this day with a real consciousness of nearness to Thee, and of dependence upon Thee.

Give us wisdom in the performance of our daily work in the use of our time and opportunities, so that we may not be restricted in our vision to the immediate interests of the present, but that we may look forward to a time when we may be called upon to use our talents in some service in which our real value to Thee, as fellow-workers, will depend upon the thoroughness with which we have trained ourselves for efficient service. May we strive to grow in spiritual strength, as well as in mental and physical powers.

Grant that our many experiences of Thy love, the realization of the blessings of the past, may give us ever increasing faith. Give us strength of will and clearness of conscience to follow more steadfastly that which we know is

right. Forgive, we beseech Thee, the many things which we do contrary to Thy laws, and the many things which we fail to do because of negligence and indifference.

May all our thoughts, words, and acts throughout this day be prompted by right motives, and by worthy ideals; may we live with the constant desire to make our lives acceptable to Thee. AMEN.

THOU, who art the true Sun of the world, ever rising, and never going down; who, by Thy most wholesome appearing and sight dost nourish, and gladden all things, in Heaven and earth; we beseech Thee mercifully to shine into our hearts, that the night and darkness of sin, and the mists of error on every side, being driven away by the brightness of Thy shining within our hearts, we may all our life walk without stumbling, as in the day-time, and, being pure and clean from the works of darkness, may abound in all good works which Thou hast prepared for us to walk in.

AMEN.

Ο

GOD, who, by the example of Thy dear Son, hast warned us that we should work Thy works while it is day, before the night cometh, when no man can work, keep us from sloth and idleness, and from the misuse of those talents which Thou hast committed to our trust. Enable us to perform the several duties of our state and calling with such care and diligence that our work may never be reproved in Thy sight; and forasmuch as the needful business of this life is apt to steal away our hearts from Thee, give us grace to remember that we have a Master in Heaven, and to do everything in singleness of heart, as unto Thee and not unto men, that of Thee we may receive the reward of the inheritance which Thou hast promised in Thy Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. AMEN.
