LL of us who have had much to do with earth's darlings-the little children are familiar with the words, "My very own." For little ones feel, as we feel, that there is an especial pleasure in an exclusive and entire right of possession. We would all ever so much rather not have a partner in matters of property. And I do not think this feeling arises from selfishness: we cannot do quite as we would, or quite as we think it is right to do, with that which does not belong to ourselves only; the manner, the times, and the seasons of other people are apt to clash with our own. And we carry this feeling into other things; lectures to especial classes-as children, young women, mothers, &c.-are likely to be more appreciated and profitable to those to whom they are addressed, than general lectures. Dear young friends, this little book is sent forth to be your very own. You are a largely increasing and important class, and it is meet that things concerning your welfare, your individual welfare, should be suggested to your thoughts.
