"Mr. B's circuit round Otaheite."Trustees of the Public Library of New South Wales, 1963 Banks travelled as a natural historian on the Endeavour with Captain James Cook. The voyage solved the problem of the nature of New Zealand, and also revealed the whole eastern coast of Australia. Banks kept this journal in which he vividly recorded things in great detail, whether he was in Brazil, Tierra del Fuego, Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, or the East Indies, in danger of death or merely enjoying himself hugely --through three most eventful years of discovery. |
