FRIDAY MORNING.

Let us Pray.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day, favourably, with mercy, hear our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy divine Majesty. But, O heavenly Father, who, of thy great mercy, hast promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto thee, have mercy upon us; pardon, and deliver us from, all our sins; confirm and strengthen us in all goodness.

Strengthen us, we beseech thee, with the Holy Ghost, the Comforter; and daily increase in us thy manifold gifts of grace; the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and ghostly strength, the spirit of knowledge and true godliness; and fill us, O Lord, with the spirit of thy holy fear; and make us both to will and to do those things that be good and acceptable unto thy divine Majesty. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the

inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy name; remembering always our profession as represented in our baptism; which is, to follow the example of our Saviour Christ, and to be made like unto Him; that as He died and rose again for us, so may we, who are baptized, die from sin, and rise again unto righteousness; continually mortifying all our evil and corrupt affections, and daily proceeding in all virtue and godliness of living.

We humbly beseech thee, also, O Father, mercifully to look upon our infirmities; and, for the glory of thy name, turn from us all those evils that we most righteously have deserved; and grant that in all our troubles, we may put our whole trust and confidence in thy mercy, and evermore serve thee in holiness and pureness of living, to thy honour and glory and so fit and prepare us, we beseech thee, against the hour of death, that after our departure hence in peace and in thy favour, our souls may be received into thine everlasting kingdom.

Defend, O Lord, our relations and friends with thy heavenly grace, that they may continue thine for ever, and daily increase in thy Holy Spirit more and more, until they come to thine everlasting kingdom. Have mercy upon all that are in any affliction or trouble; and send them help from thy holy place.

May it please thee, O Lord, to rule and govern thy holy Church universal in the right way; and so to dispose and govern the heart of William thy servant, our King and Governor, that in all his thoughts, words, and works, he may ever seek thy honour and glory; and study to preserve thy people committed to his charge, in wealth, peace, and godliness.

Accept, O heavenly Father, our humble thanks for thy great goodness to us in the blessings of this life; and above all, that thou hast called us to a state of salvation through thy beloved Son our Lord Jesus Christ, whom thou hast given unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample of godly life. And as thou hast promised to hear the petitions of them that ask in thy Son's name, we beseech thee mercifully to incline thine ears to us who have made now our prayers and supplications unto thee; and grant that those things which we have faithfully asked according to thy will, may effectually be obtained, to the relief of our necessity, and to the setting forth of thy glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

FRIDAY EVENING.

Let us Pray.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness. We have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. But, O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desirest not the death of a sinner, but rather that he may turn from his wickedness, and live, grant us the absolution and remission of our sins. Give us, we beseech thee, true repentance, and thy Holy Spirit, that those things may please thee which we do at this present, and that the rest of our lives hereafter may be pure and holy; and that, being steadfast in faith, joyful through hope, and rooted in charity, we may so pass the waves of this troublesome world, that finally we may come to the land of everlasting life, there to reign with thee, world without end, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Of thine only gift it cometh, O merciful God, that thy faithful people do unto thee true and laudable service; grant, we beseech thee, that we may faith

fully serve thee in this life; and like as we do believe thy only begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into the heavens, so may we also in heart and mind thither ascend, and with Him continually dwell, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, to the honour and glory of thy holy name. O merciful Father, that despisest not the sighing of a contrite heart, nor the desire of such as be sorrowful, mercifully assist our prayers that we make before thee in all our troubles and adversities, whensoever they oppress us; and graciously hear us, that those evils which the craft and subtlety of the devil or man worketh against us, be brought to nought, and by the providence of thy goodness they may be dispersed,

Send thy blessings upon our relations, friends, and neighbours; that they, obeying thy will, and alway being in safety under thy protection, may abide in thy love unto their lives' end. Graciously look upon all that are in affliction; pitifully behold the sorrows of their hearts.

:

O Lord, we beseech thee, let thy continual pity cleanse and defend thy Church, particularly that part of it to which we belong and because it cannot continue in safety without thy succour, preserve it evermore by thy help and goodness. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness, and let thy saints
