THE design of the following pages is to provide suitable Scripture portions for the sick and infirm, and to aid district visitors, anxious to find select texts to read to the sick and dying. May every one who reads this little book find a blessing in it, and be led diligently to search the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make him wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. MY DEAR FRIEND, "GOD is Love," and therefore he "speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. He keepeth his soul back from the pit, and chastens him with pain upon his bed." God has often spoken to you by the voice of conscience and of Providence, and he now speaks to you again; but it will profit you nothing, unless you take heed to the teaching of his Word and Holy Spirit.
