Sancta Mater, istud agas,
Crucifixi fige plagas
Cordi meo valide.
Tui Nati vulnerati,
Tam dignati pro me pati,
Pœnas mecum divide.

Fac me tecum pie flere,
Crucifixo condolere,
Donec ego vixero.
Juxta Crucem tecum stare,

Et me tibi sociare
In planctu desidero.
Virgo virginum præclara,
Mihi jam non sis amara;
Fac me tecum plangere.
Fac ut portem Christi mor-
tem,
Passionis fac consortem,
Et plagas recolere.
Fac me plagis vulnerari,
Fac me Cruce inebriari,

Paradisi gloria. Amen.

HA

Holy Mother! pierce me through,
In my heart each wound renew
Of my Saviour crucified:
Let me share with thee His pain,
Who for love of me was slain,
Who for me in torments died.
Let me mingle tears with thee,
Mourning Him who died for me,
All the days that I may live:
By the Cross with thee to stay,
There with thee to weep and
pray,

This, I thee entreat to give.
Virgin of all virgins best:
Listen to my fond request:
Let me share that grief of thine;
Let me, to latest breath,
my
In my body bear the death
Of thy Son, the Lord divine.
Wounded with His every wound'
Steep my soul till it hath swoon'd
In His very blood away:
To my prayer, O Virgin, turn,
Lest in cruel flames I burn,
Doomed on that great Judgment
day.

Christ, when I am summoned hence

Be Thy Mother my defence,
Be Thy Cross my victory;
While my body here decays,
May my soul Thy goodness
praise,

Safe in Paradise with Thee.

Hail, Queen of Heaven.

AIL, Queen of heaven, the ocean star, Guide of the wanderer here below, Thrown on life's surge, we claim thy care, Save us from peril and from woe. Mother of Christ, Star of the sea, Pray for the wanderer, pray for me.

pious, chaste, and spotless Maid,
We sinners make our prayers through thee;
Remind thy Son that He has paid
The price of our iniquity.

Virgin most pure, Star of the sea,
Pray for the sinner, pray for me.
Sojourners in this vale of tears,
To thee, blest advocate, we cry ;
Pity our sorrows, calm our fears,
And soothe with hope our misery.
Refuge in grief, Star of the sea,
Pray for the mourner, pray for me.
And while to Him who reigns above,
In Godhead one, in Persons three,
The source of life, of grace, of love,
Homage we pay on bended knee,

Do thou, bright Queen, Star of the sea,
Pray for thy children, pray for me.

Hymn of S. Casimir.

MNI die dic Mariæ,
Mea, laudes, anima:
Ejus festa, ejus gesta
Cole devotissima.
Contemplare et mirare
Ejus celsitudinem :
Dic felicem Genitricem,
Dic beatam Virginem.
Ipsam cole, ut de mole
Criminum te liberet;
Hanc appella ne procella
Vitiorum superet.
Hæc persona nobis dona
Contulit cœlestia ;
Hæc Regina nos divina
Illustravit gratia.

Lingua mea, dic trophæa
Virginis puerperæ,
Quæ inflictum maledictum
Miro transfert germine.

DAILY, daily, sing to Mary

Sing, my soul, her praises
due:
[ship,
All her feasts, her actions wor-
With the heart's devotion true.
Lost in wond'ring contempla-
Be her majesty confest: [tion,
Call her Mother, call her Virgin,
Happy Mother, Virgin blest.
She is mighty to deliver:
Call her, trust her lovingly;
When the tempest rages round
thee

She will calm the troubled sea.
Gifts of heaven she has given,
Noble Lady! to our race:
She the Queen who decks her
subjects
[grace.
With the light of God's own
Sing, my tongue, the Virgin's
trophies,

Who for us her Maker bore;
For the curse of old inflicted,
Peace and blessing to restore.

Sine fine dic Reginæ
Mundi laudum cantica;
Ejus bona semper sona,
Semper illam prædica.

Sing in songs of praise unending,
Sing the world's majestic Queen;
Weary not, nor faint in telling
All the gifts she gives to men.
