It raises the utmoft Contempt, and Indignation, to fee Owls, nay poor illiterate, and (as much as in their Power) malignant Creatures, maletreat thofe, who if they were now alive, would themfelves fhew, that these if they had no other Faults but Ignorance, would not be worthy to wipe their Shoes.

The Account I give you from the Adversaries of their Doctrine, as they publish it, is not their real Doctrine, they have no Difputes among themselves about thefe: Matters; they, as the Rabbies had, have. another which they communicate only to those whom they can trust, who are initiated, as Philo tells you they had in his Time, and as Toland has honeftly fhewed

As this Word 7 Glory, &c. is found joined with Name, and is found to be a defcriptive Word for one of the Names; and as the Names have already been explained, and as it is preceded and joined with 2 Word (fecret one to be manifefted) as Pfal. lxxix. 9. Help us O Aleim of our Salvation by in the Word, the Glory thy Name: And deliver us, and cover over all our Sins for thy Name's Sake. And as is joined with other Words of the highest Importance, as Pfal. cv. 8. 1 Chron. xvi. 16. He is mindful for ever of his Purifier; the Word he commanded for a thousand Generations, which he cut off with Abraham, &c. v. 42. For he

more or different Significations, or different Constructions, put upon it in the Tranflations, or Explications of them, than there is upon any other Word in the Hebrew Tongue; and which, inter al. by a Hebraiẩm as they term it, in the Greek by λογοs and Θεος is exprefsly faid to be λογος God, and so a Perfon in Jehovah said to be the Word; which, as it stands, gives no Idea of, or Distinction to the Perfon, nor any Appearance of Reason why that Word or Name was ufed; and fince this Word is also used as a Name for brute Creatures, Things, House, Place, Oration, Action, or Tranfaction and Event, we muft in pursuance of the hieroglyphical ideal Manner of the divine Writings, taken from visible or fome way fenfible Things or Actions, and the Formation of the Hebrew Language, find a Word or Words which will fuit this Idea; and if that cannot be done, because the Formers of other Languages had little or no Knowledge of, or regard to Ideas, when those Languages were formed, I muft explain the Idea in each by Circumlocution; I fhall mention only the Noun, the reft of the Parts of Speech follow.
