Quest. Who gave you this name?

Answ. My Godfathers and Godmothers in my baptism, wherein I was made a member of Christ, the child of God, and an inheritor of the kingdom of heaven.

Q. By what other name are Godfathers and Godmothers called?

A. "Sureties."-Catechism. Q. How many Godfathers and Godmothers must there be for a child?

A. "There shall be for every male-child to be baptized two Godfathers and one Godmother; and for every female, one Godfather and two Godmothers."-Second Rubric before Public Baptism.

Q. What does the Twentyninth Canon say concerning Godfathers and Godmothers?

A. "No parent shall be admitted to answer as Godfather for his own child; neither shall any person be admitted Godfather or Godmother to any child, at christening or confirmation, before the said person so undertaking hath received the holy Communion." Q. What is their duty?

A. "It is their parts and duties to see that the infant be taught, so soon as he shall be able to learn, what a solemn vow, promise, and profession he hath made by them." -Exhortation, Public Baptism.

Secondly, That I should believe all the articles of the Christian faith. And thirdly, That I should keep God's holy will and commandments, and walk in the same all the days of my life.
