38 El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, rios de agua viva correrán de su vientre.

39 (Y esto dijó del Espíritu, que habían de recibir los que creyesen en él. Porque aun el Espíritu Santo no había sido dado, por cuanto Jesus no erá aun glorificado.) 40 Entónces muchas de aquellas gentes cuando oyeron estas palabras, decían: Este verdaderamente es el Profeta.

41 Otros decían: Este es el Christo. Mas algunos decían: ¿De Galiléa ha de venir el Christo?

42 ¿No dice la Escritura que de la simiente de David, y de la aldea de Bethlehem, de donde erá David, ha de venir el Christo?

43 Así que había disension en el pueblo acerca de él.

44 Y algunos de ellos le querían prender; mas ninguno pusó las

manos sobre él.

45 Y los ministros vinieron á los Pontífices y á los Phariseos, y ellos les digeron: ¿porqué no le habeis traido?

46 Los ministros respondieron: Jamas hombre habló, como habla este hombre.

47 Entonces les respondieron los Phariseos : ¿ tambien sois vosotros engañados?

48 Ha creido en él alguno de los Príncipes, ó de los Phariseos? 49 Mas este pueblo que no sabe la ley es maldito.

50 Nicodemus aquel que vino á Jesus de noche, el cual erá uno de ellos, les dijó:

51 ¿Por ventura juzga nuestra ley á ningun hombre, sin haberle primero oido, y sin saber lo que ha hecho?

52 Ellos respondieron, y digeronle: ¿Eres tú tambien Galiléo? Escudriña, y vé que de Galiléa nunca se levantó Profeta.

53 Y se volvieron cada uno á su

casa.

38 He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

40 T Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee ?

42 Hath not the Scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was ?

43 So there was a division among the people because of him.

44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

45 T Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

47 Then answered them the Phar isees, Are ye also deceived?

48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? 49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

50 Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

51 Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

53 And every man went unto his own house.

4 Le digeron: Maestro, esta muger ha sido sorprendida en el acto mismo del adulterio.

5 Y Moysés nos mandó en la ley apedrear á las tales. ¿Pues tú qué dices?

6 Mas esto decían tentandole, para poderle acusar, empero Jesus inclinado hacia abajo, escribía con el dedo en tierra, como que no los habia oido.

7 Y como porfiasen en preguntarle, enderezose, y les dijó: El que de vosotros este sin pecado, sea el primero en arrojar contra ella la piedra.

8 Y volviendose á inclinar hácia abajo, continuaba escribiendo en tierra.

9 Ellos pues al oir esto, acusados de su propia conciencia, salieronse uno á uno, empezando desde los mas ancianos hasta los postreros, y Jesus quedó solo, y la muger que estaba en medio.

10 Y enderezandose Jesus, y no viendo á nadie mas que á la muger, le dijó: Muger ¿dónde estan los que te acusaban? Ninguno te ha condenado?

11 Y ella dijó: Señor, ninguno. Entónces Jesus la dijó: Ni yo tampoco te condeno. Vete, y no peques mas.

12 Y Jesus les habló otra vez, diciendo: Yo soy la luz del mundo: el que me sigue, no andará en tinieblas; mas tendrá la luz de vida.

CHAPTER VIII.

ESUS went unto the mount of
Olives.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

13 The Pharisees therefore said

16 Y si yo juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no soy solo; mas yo y el Padre que me envió.

17 Y en vuestra ley está escrito, que el testimonio de dos hombres es verdadero.

18 Yo soy el que doy testimonio de mí mismo, y dá testimonio de mí, el Padre que me envió.

19 Y le decían, ¿dónde está tu Padre? Respondió Jesus. Ni á mí me conoceis, ni á mi Padre; si me conocierais á mí, tambien conocierias á mi Padre.

20 Estas palabras habló Jesus en el lugar del tesoro, enseñando en el templo; y nadie le prendió, porque no había aun venido su hora.

21 Y Jesus les dijó otra vez: Yo me voy, y me buscaréis y moriréis en vuestro pecado; á donde yo voy, vosotros no podeis venir.

22 Decían pues los Judios: ¿se matará él? que dice: Adonde yo voy, vosotros no podeis venir.

23 Y les decía: Vosotros sois de abajo, yo soy de arriba. Vosotros sois de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo.

24 Por eso os dijó: moriréis en vuestros pecados, porque sino creyereis que yo soy, moriréis en vuestros pecados.

25 Y le decían ¿Tú quien eres? Y Jesus les dijó. El mismo que os he dicho desde el principio.

26 Muchas cosas tengo que decir, y juzgar de vosotros; mas el que me envió es verdadero, y yo hablo

14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. 17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet

come.

21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come,

22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.

23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the

27 Mas no entendieron que les hablaba del Padre.

28 Dijoles pues Jesus: Cuando levantáreis al Hijo del hombre, entónces entenderéis que yo soy, y que de mí mismo nada hago; mas como el Padre me ha enseñado, este hablo.

29 Porque el que me envió, conmigo está. El Padre no me ha dejado solo. Porque yo hago siempre lo que á él agrada.

30 Mientras él hablaba estas cosas, muchos creyeron en él.

31 Y decía Jesus á los Judios que le habían creido: si vosotros perseveráreis en mi palabra, seréis verdaderamente mis discípulos. 32 Y conoceréis la verdad, y la verdad os hará libres.

33 Y respondieronle: simiente de Abraham somos, y jamas servimos á nadie, pues ¿cómo dices tu: seréis libres?

34 Jesus les respondió: En verdad, en verdad os digo; que todo aquel que hace pecado, esclavo es del pecado.

35 Y el esclavo no queda para siempre en casa; mas el hijo queda para siempre.

36 Así que si el Hijo os libertare, seréis verdaderamente libres.

27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, | verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

38 Yo lo que he visto cerca de mi Padre digo, y vosotros haceis lo que habeis visto cerca de vuestro padre.

39 Respondieron, y le digeron: Nuestro padre es Abraham. Jesus les dijó si fueseis hijos de Abraham, haríais las obras de Abraham.

40 Empero ahora procurais matarme: hombre que siempre os he hablado la verdad, la cual he oido de Dios: No hizó esto Abraham.

38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth. which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

41 Vosotros haceis las obras de vuestro padre. Y ellos le digeron: nosotros no somos nacidos de fornicacion; un padre tenemos que es Dios.

42 Jesus entónces les dijó: si vuestro padre fuese Dios, ciertamente me amaríais. Porque yo de Dios he salido, y he venido: porque yo no he venido de mí mismo, mas él me envió.

43 ¿Porqué no entendeis este mi lenguage? Porque vosotros no podeis oir mi palabra.

44 Vosotros sois del diablo vuestro padre, y quereis cumplir los deseos de vuestro padre: él ha sido homicida desde el principio, y no permaneció en la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él. Cuando hablá mentira, de suyo hablá, porque es mentiroso, y padre de la mentira. 45 Y porque yo digo verdad, no

me creeis.

46¿Quién de vosotros me convencerá de pecado? Y si yo digo verdad, ¿porqué no me creeis?

47 El que es de Dios, oye las palabras de Dios. Por eso vosotros no las oís, porque no sois de Dios.

48 Respondieron entonces los Judios, y le digeron: ¿No decimos bien nosotros, que tú eres Samaritano; y que tienes demonio?

49 Respondió Jesus: Y no tengo demonio; antes honro á mi Padre, y vosotros me habeis deshonrado. 50 Mas yo no busco mi gloria, hay quien la busque, y juzgue.

51 En verdad, en verdad os digo; que el que guardare mi palabra, no verá muerte en la eternidad. 52 Entonces los Judíos le digeron: ahora conocemos que tienes demohio.

Abraham murió, y los Profeas; y tú dices: El que guardare mi palabra, no gustará jamas de ela muerte.

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

50 And I seek not mine own glory there is one that seeketh and judgeth.

51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste

of death.
