dopalos; porque no saben lo que hacen. Y dividiendo sus vestidos, echaron suertes.

35 Y el pueblo estaba mirando, y los Príncipes juntos con ellos, se burlaban de él, diciendo: A otros hizo salvos, salvese á sí, si este es el Christo el escogido de Dios.

36 Y los soldados tambien le escarnecían, llegandose, y presentandole vinagre.

37 Y diciendo: si tú eres Rey de los Judios salvate á tí mismo.

38 Y había tambien sobre él un título escrito con letras Griegas, Romanas, y Hebreas: Este es el Rey de los Judios.

39 Y uno de los malhechores, que estaban colgados, le injuriaba, diciendo si tú eres el Christo salvate á tí mismo y á nosotros.

40 Mas respondiendo el otro, le reprendía, diciendo, Ni aun tú temes á Dios, estando en el mismo suplicio ?

41 Y nosotros en verdad por nuestra culpa justamente padecemos, porque recibimos lo que merecen nuestros hechos: mas este ningun mal ha hecho:

42 Y dijó á Jesus: Señor, acuerdate de mí, cuando vinieres en tu

reyno.

43 Y Jesus le dijó: En verdad te digo, que hoy estarás conmigo en el Paraiso.

44 Y cuando erá como la hora de sexta, toda la tierra se cubrió de tinieblas hásta la hora de nona.

45 Y el Sol se oscureció, y el velo del templo se rompió por medio.

46 Entónces Jesus clamando con grande voz dijó: Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu. Y habiendo dicho esto, espiró.

47 Y cuando el centurion vió lo que había acontecido, dió gloria á Dios, diciendo: Verdaderamente este hombre, erá justo.

forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

35 And the people stood beholding, And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

37 And saying, If thou be the King of the Jews, save thyself.

38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation ?

41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. 44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

45 And the sun was darkened, and the vail of the temple was rent in the midst.

46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a right

eous man.

lo, viendo lo que había acontecido, se volvían, hiriendo sus pechos. 49 Mas todos sus conocidos, y las mugeres, que le habían seguido desde Galiléa estaban lejos mirando estas cosas.

50 Y he aquí un varon llamado Joseph, el cual erá senador, varon justo y bueno.

51 (El cual no había consentido en el consejo ni en los hechos de ellos) de Arimathea, ciudad de Judea, el cual tambien esperabá el reyno de Dios.

52 Este se llegó á Pilato, y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesus;

53 Y habiendole tomado, le envolvió en una sabana, y le pusó en un sepulcro labrado en una peña, en el cual hásta entónces ninguno había sido puesto.

54 Y erá dia de la vispera de la Pascua, y el sábado ya rayaba.

55 Y viniendo tambien las mugeres que habían seguido á Jesus desde Galiléa, vieron el sepulcro y como fué depositado su cuerpo.

56 Y volviendose prepararon aromas, y ungüentos, y reposaron el sábado conforme al mandamiento.

the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them :) he was of Arimathea, a city of the Jews; who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. 53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

6 No está aquí, mas ha resucitado. Acordaos de lo que os habló, cuando aun estaba en Galiléa. 7 Diciendo: Es menester que el Hijo del hombre sea entregado en manos de hombres pecadores y que sea crucificado, y resucite al tercero dia.

8 Entonces ellas se acordaron de sus palabras.

9 Y volviendose del sepulcro, dieron nuevas de todas estas cosas á los once, y á todos los demas.

10 Y las que digeron estas cosas á los Apóstoles eran María Magdalena, y Juana, y María, madre de Jacobo, y las demas que estaban con ellas.

11 Mas á ellos les parecieron las palabras de ellas como desvarío, y no las creyeron.

12 Y levantandose Pedro, cornó al sepulcro, y como mirase dentro, vió solo los lienzos allí echados, y fuése maravillado entre sí de lo que había acontecido.

13 Y he aquí dos de ellos iban el mismo dia á una aldea, que estaba á sesenta estadios de Jerusalem, llamada Emaús.

14 E iban hablando entre sí de todas las cosas, que habían acaetido.

15 Y aconteció, que yendo halando entre sí, y preguntandose no á otro, el mismo Jesus se les juntó; y caminaba con ellos juntahente.

16 Mas los ojos de ellos estaban embargados paraque no le conoeiesen.

17 Y les dijó, que pláticas son sas que teneis entre vosotros anando, y estais tristes?

18 Y respondiendo uno de ellos

7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

8 And they remembered his words,

9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

19 Y él les dijó, ¿Qué? Y ellos le digeron. De Jesus Nazareno, el cual fué varon Profeta, poderoso en obras, y en palabras delante de Dios y de todo el pueblo,

20 Y como le entregaron los sumos sacerdotes, y nuestros príncipes condenacion de muerte, y le crucificaron.

21 Mas nosotros esperabamos que erá él que había de redimir á Israel; y ahora sobre todo esto, hoy es el tercero dia que esto ha acaecido.

22 Aunque tambien unas mugeres de las nuestras, nos han espantado, las cuales antes del amanecer, fueron al sepulcro.

23 Y no hallando su cuerpo, vinieron, diciendo que tambien habían visto allí vision de ángeles, los cuales dicen que él vive.

24 Y fueron algunos de los nuestros al sepulcro, y hallaron ser así como las mugeres habían dicho; mas á él no le vieron.

25 Entónces él les dijó: ¡O nei cios, y tardos de corazon para creer lo que los Profetas han dicho!

26 ¿No debía Christo padecer estas cosas, y que entrára así en su gloria?

27 Y comenzando desde Moyses, y todos los Profetas, les declaraba en todas las Escrituras, las cosas tocantes á él.

28 Y llegaron á la aldea á donde iban, y él dió muestras de ir mas lejos.

29 Mas le detuvieron por fuerza, diciendo: Quedate con nosotros, porque se hace tarde, y el dia ya declina. Y entró con ellos.

19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty ́in deed and word before God and all the people:

20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;

23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

25 Then he said unto them, C fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken

26 Ought not Christ to have suf fered these things, and to enter in to his glory?

27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded un to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went and he made as though he would hav gone further.

29 But they constrained him, say ing, Abide with us; for it is to ward evening, and the day is fa spent. And he went in to tarr with them.

31 Entonces fueron abiertos los ojos de ellos, y le conocieron. Mas él desapareció de su vista.

32 Y se decía el uno al otro, ¿No ardía nuestro corazon dentro de nosotros mismos en el camino, cuando nos hablaba, y nos esplicabá las Escrituras?

33 Y levantandose en la misma hora, volvieron á Jerusalem, y hallaron congregados á los once, y á los que estaban con ellos.

34 Que decían: El Señor ha resucitado verdaderamente, y ha aparecido á Simon.

35 Y ellos contaban lo que les había sucedido en el camino, y como le habían conocido al partir el pan.

36 Y mientras ellos estaban hablando estas cosas, Jesus se pusó en medio de ellos, y les dijó, Paz

sea con vosotros.

37 Entonces ellos admirados y asombrados, pensaban que veían algun espíritu.

38 Mas él les dijó, ¿Porqué estais turbados, y se levantan pensamientos en vuestros corazones?

39 Mirad mis manos y mis pies, que yo mismo soy palpad, y ved, que el espíritu no tiene carne ni huesos, como veis que yo tengo. 40 Y dicho esto, les mostró las manos, y los pies.

41 Y como no lo creyesen ellos, de puro gozo y maravillados, dijóles: ¿Teneis aquí algo que comer?

42 Y ellos le presentaron parte de un pez asado, y un panal de miel.

43 Lo cual él tomó, y comió delante de ellos.

44 Y les dijó: Estas son las palabras, que os hablé estando aun con vosotros: Que erá necesario

31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the Scriptures?

33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

36 ¶ And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb.

43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
