lem, SO JEHOVAH surroundeth his people, from henceforth, even for ever:

3 That the tribe of the wicked may not rest on the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous should be tempted to put their hands unto iniquity.

4 Send prosperity, O JEHOVAH ! unto the good, and unto those who are pure in heart.

5 But as for those who turn aside to their own perverse inclinations, JEHOVAH shall make them go forth with the workers of iniquity and give peace unto Israel.

PSALM CXXVI.

WHEN JEHOVAH brought back the captive sons of Zion, we were like unto men awakened from a dream :

2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with joy :

3 Then said the nations; "JEHOVAH hath done great things for them." 4 JEHOVAH hath, indeed, done great things for us, for which we rejoice. 5 JEHOVAH hath restored us from our captivity

captivity; delightful to us as the refreshing streams to a parched country.

6 Those who did sow in tears, reap with joy.

7 He who goeth forth weeping, bearing the seed to sow, returneth with joy, bringing the sheaves with him.

PSALM CXXVII.

UNLESS JEHOVAH build the house, their labour is but lost who build it.

2 Unless JEHOVAH keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

3 It is in vain for you to rise up early to labour, and to go late to rest, and to eat the bread of carefulness, unless JEHOVAH bless your endeavours: but he giveth to his beloved, even while they sleep.

4 Lo! children, the fruit of the womb, are an heritage and gift that cometh from JEHOVAH.

5 Like as arrows in the hand of the mighty man, even so are young children: 6 Happy is the man who hath his quiver filled with them: they shall not be put to shame, when they treat with their enemies. in the city gate.

PSALM CXXVIII.

HAPPY is every one who feareth JEHOVAH, and walketh in his ways:

2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands; thou shalt be happy and prosper

ous.

3 Thy wife shall be like the fruitful vine upon the walls of thine house: thy children like olive-plants around thy table.

4 Lo! thus shall the man be blessed who feareth JEHOVAH.

5 JEHOVAH shall bless thee from Zion, and thou shalt see Jerusalem in prosperity all the days of thy life; yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.

PSALM CXXIX.

FROM my youth they have frequently oppressed me, may Israel truly say:

2 From my youth they have frequently oppressed me; but they have not prevailed against me.

3 They have, as it were, ploughed long furrows upon my back; but JEHOVAH,

who

who is righteous, hath cut the plough cords. of the wicked asunder.

4 May all those who hate Zion, be ashamed and put to flight :

5 May they be like the grass upon the house-top, which withereth before it groweth up:

6 With which the mower filleth not his hand, nor the sheaf-binder his arm:

7 Neither do those who pass by, say; "The blessing of JEHOVAH be upon you! we bless you in the name of JEHOVAH.”

PSALM CXXX.

FROM the deep I did call unto thee, o JEHOVAH! saying; "O JEHOVAH! hear my voice; and let thine ears attend to the voice of my supplication :

2 "If thou, O JEHOVAH! shouldst mark down all our iniquities, who could stand before thee?

3 "But with thee there is forgiveness; therefore, thou art revered."

4 I wait for JEHOVAH, my soul waiteth for him; for I place my trust in his

word.

5 My soul waiteth for JEHOVAH more ardently than those who watch do wait for the appearance of the morning.

6 O Israel! place thy trust in JEHOVAH, for with JEHOVAH there is mercy, and with him there is great power to save:

7 And he shall save his people Israel from all their iniquities.

PSALM CXXXI.

MY heart, O JEHOVAH ! is not haughty; neither are mine eyes lofty.

2 I do not occupy myself in matters which are too great, or too high for me. 3 But I compose and pacify myself, as the mother appeaseth her weaned child.

4 O Israel! place thy trust in JEHOVAH, from henceforth, evcu forever.

PSALM CXXXII.

O JEHOVAH! remember David, on account of his solicitude for thy glory; for he swore unto JEHOVAH, and vowed to the mighty GOD of Jacob:

2 "I will not," said he, "enter the ta
