PSALM CIX.

O GOD! whom I praise, be not thou silent; for the mouth of wicked and the mouth of deceitful men are opened against

me :

2 They speak against me with false tongues; they surround me with words of hatred, and war against me without cause:

3 In return for my love they are mine adversaries; and though I pray for them, they repay me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

4 He who sitteth in judgment on me is an impious man; and a false accuser standeth at his right-hand.

5 While he giveth sentence, "Let him be condemned," say they, "and let his petition for pardon aggravate his crime.

6 "Let his days be few, and another take his office:

"Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow:

8 "Let his children be vagabonds and beggars; let them be driven from their ruinous habitations.

9 "Let the extortioner seize all that he

hath:

hath and let strangers despoil him of his labour.

10"Let there be no one to show him kindness; no one to compassionate his fatherless children.

II "Let his posterity be annihilated; and in another generation let their name be forgotten.

12 "Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before JEHOVAH; and let not the sin of his mother be done away.

13 "Let these be continually before JEHOVAH, that he may cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

14" Because he remembereth not to show kindness; but persecuteth the man who is afflicted and destitute, and broken. hearted, to put him to death:

15 "Because he delighteth in cursing, therefore it shall come upon him; because he loveth not blessing, therefore it shall be far from him:

16 "Because he clotheth himself with cursing as with a garment, let it sit upon him like the robe which he weareth, and like the girdle with which he is constantly girded:

17"Nay; let it pass like water into his bowels, and like marrow into his bones."

18 Be such, therefore, the reward of mine adversaries, from JEHOVAH; and of those who speak evil against my life.

19 But do thou, O JEHOVAH! deal mercifully with me for thy name's sake; because thy mercy is good:

20 Deliver me, O JEHOVAH! for I am afflicted and destitute, and mine heart is wounded within me.

21 I am departing like the evening-shadow when it lengtheneth; and I am driven away like the locust:

22 My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh withereth for want of fatness: 23 I am become a subject of reproach among them; when they see me, they shake their heads.

24 Help me, O JEHOVAH! my GOD! save me, for thy mercy's sake:

25 That they may acknowledge that it is thine hand: that thou, O JEHOVAH! hast done it.

26 Though they curse, do thou bless; and let those who rise up against me be ashamed, but let thy servant rejoice.

27 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame; and covered with confusion as with a cloak:

28 As for me, I will give thanks unto JFHOVAH with my mouth; and praise him the multitudes of people : among

29 For he standeth at the right-hand of a destitute man, to save my life from unrighteous judges.

PSALM CX.

JEHOVAH said unto my lord ;-"Sit thou on my right-hand, until I make thine enemies my foot-stool."

2 JEHOVAH shall deliver to thee the sceptre of thy power from Zion; and thou shalt rule in the midst of thine enemies.

3 Thy people shall willingly offer themselves on the day when thy forces are assembled upon the holy hills: the youth of thine army shall be like the dew from the womb of the morning.

4 JEHOVAH hath sworn, and he will not repent; "Thou art a priest for ever, after the order of Melchizedek."

5 JEHOVAH, on thy right-hand, will wound even kings in the day of his wrath :

6 He will execute judgment among the nations; he will cover the field of battle with dead bodies, and wound the chief of many nations.

7 He will appoint thee a leader of many in the way; so shall he elevate thine head.

PSALM CXI.

I WILL give thanks unto JEHOVAH with my whole heart in private among the up. right, and in the congregation.

2 The works of JEHOVAH are great, worthy of being studied by all who delight in him.

3 His actions are full of glory and renown; and his righteousness endureth for

ever.

4 He hath made memorable his wonderful works; JEHOVAH is gracious and full of compassion.

5 He giveth food to those who fear him ; he remembereth his covenant for ever: 6 He hath showed his people the might of his decds, by giving them the inheritance of the nations.
