6 Rejoice before JEHOVAH, the king, with trumpets, and the sound of the cornet. 7 Let the sea, and the fulness thereof, roar; the world, and those who inhabit it.

8 Let the rivers clap their hands; together let the mountains shout for joy before

JEHOVAH;

9 For he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth and he will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

PSALM XCIX.

JEHOVAH reigneth, let the peoples stand in awe; he sitteth between the cherubim, let the earth tremble.

2 JEHOVAH is great in Zion, and he is exalted above all peoples.

3 Let these, therefore, praise his great and awful name; for he is holy and powerful.

4 The king loveth judgment; thou art he who hast established equitable laws in Israel; and hast executed justice in Jacob.

5 Extol, therefore, JEHOVAH our GOD, and fall prostrate before his foot-stool; for he is holy and righteous. 6 Mofes

6 Moses and Aaron were among his ministers, and Samuel among those who invoked his name: these called upon JEHOVAH, and he answered them.

7 When JEHOVAH spake unto them. from a pillar of cloud; they observed his commandments and the ordinance which he gave them.

8 O JEHOVAH! our GOD, thou didst hear them; thou wert the GOD who supported them, and took vengeance on the designs against them.

9 Extol, therefore, JEHOVAH, Our GOD, and fall prostrate on his holy mountain; for JEHOVAH, Our GOD, is holy.

PSALM C.

In the Morning prayer, p. 7.

PSALM CI.

MY song shall be of mercy and judgment; unto thee, O JEHOVAH ! will I sing: 2 I will instruct in the way of virtue those whom thou shalt place under me; I will walk within mine house with an upright heart.

Y 3

3 I will

3 I will not place before mine eyes the man who turneth aside from thy law: I hate him who committeth impiety; he shall not cleave unto me.

4 1 he perverse heart shall remove from before me; I will not know a wicked per

son.

5. He who secretly slandereth his neighbour, him will I destroy: he who hath a lofty eye and a proud heart, him I will not

suffer.

6 Mine eyes shall look upon the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; and he who walketh in the path of integrity, shall minister unto me.

7 He who practiseth deceit, shall not dwell within minc house; he who speaketh falschood shall not continue in my presence.

8 Every morning will I be destroying all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of

JEHOVAH.

PSALM CII.

HEAR my supplication, O JEHOVAH ! and let my cry come unto thee.

2 Hide not thy face from me in the day of my distress; incline thine ear, and hasten to answer me, when I call unto thee.

3 For my days vanish like smoke, and my bones are burnt up like a fire-brand :

4 Mine heart is blighted, and withereth like grass, because I forget to cat my bread; and my bones cleave to my skin, because of my sighing:

5

I resemble a pelican in the wilderness; I am become like a bird of prey that liveth in desert places:

6 I watch all night: I am like the lonely bird on the house-top: and, throughout the day, mine enemies revile me, and furiously conspire against me.

7 Surely I eat ashes as bread, and mix tears with my drink, because of thy wrath and indignation; for thou hast made me desolate, and cast me down.

8 My days decline like the evening-shadow, and I wither like grass.

9 But thou, O JEHOVAH! shalt endure for ever: and the remembrance of thee shall remain through all generations.

10 Thou shalt arise, and shalt have mercy on Zion, when itis time to have compassion

compassion on her; when the season cometh :

11. Because thy servants have an affection for the very stones thereof; and they are grieved to see her in ruins.

12 Then shall the nations fear thy name, O JEHOVAH and the kings of the earth, thy glory :

13 When JEHOVAH buildeth Zion, and he appeareth again in his glory :

14 When he regardeth the prayer of the destitute; and rejecteth not their supplication.

15 This shall be recorded for posterity; and future generations shall praise

JEHOVAH.

16 Because JEHOVAH did look down from the height of his holy place; from the heavens he looked down upon the earth:

17 To attend the anguish of the fettered captives; to release those who were condemned to die;

18 That they might proclaim the name of JFHOVAH in Zion; and his praise in Je

rusalem :

19 When the peoples and the kingdoms were assembled to serve JEHOVAH.
